Medical Center.
Morning.
Adam made rounds with The Four Interns.
"Dr. Duncan, can I see Lola?"
Owen asked.
"Not for now."
Adam shook his head. "Focus on recovering first. You'll have time to see her later."
"Does she not want to see me?"
After a brutal lesson from the bald, hot-tempered big brother, Owen's IQ had finally come online.
"They've all transferred to another hospital."
Adam glanced at him.
"Heh."
Owen could not help laughing. "So you're saying they forced themselves to transfer, even though they'd just had surgery and were in no condition to be moved, all because I'm here?"
Um.
That smile was complicated.
George and the others all lowered their heads, avoiding his gaze.
It could not be helped.
In their shoes, faced with such a terrifying criminal, they would probably transfer immediately too, just to get a little farther away.
Owen fell silent. He said nothing more, his gaze turning deep.
After giving The Four Interns some instructions, Adam headed to the ER alone.
"Jenny isn't here?"
Adam made a round of the department without seeing Jenny, then asked casually.
"She took the morning off."
The nurse explained, "Does Dr. Duncan need her? I can page her for you."
"No need."
Adam smiled and shook his head.
As long as she did not stay in the ER trauma room treating trauma patients, he had no objection.
Never urge others to be kind when you have not suffered their pain.
Although Adam knew Jenny's suffering, he could not truly feel it.
But he knew that Jenny was struggling inside.
Otherwise, someone without a shred of conscience would not deliberately avoid sharp objects, risk being discovered, and seek someone out to treat such wounds for her.
So although he was disappointed by Jenny's stubbornness and selfishness, he would
