The day after Halloween.

"Praise Howard!"

That morning, Adam had been chanting the name of the robotic genius. The negative energy he had built up because of that brat yesterday had been completely swept away, leaving him refreshed and full of vigor.

"Violet, what's got you down?"

When he arrived at the Medical Center and saw Nurse Know-It-All approaching with a gloomy expression, Adam asked with concern.

"Dr. Duncan, I can't assist in your Operating Room today."

Nurse Know-It-All apologized. "Maybe I won't be able to assist in your Operating Room ever again."

"What happened?"

Adam was surprised.

"It's my own problem."

Nurse Know-It-All said dejectedly, "Two things happened in a row yesterday, and they made me not want to be a nurse anymore."

"Tell me."

Adam asked.

"Dr. Duncan, you may not know this, but my mother is a nurse too."

Nurse Know-It-All did not try to hide anything. "But she worked at a county hospital for decades. She only had one more year before she could retire with the highest pension.

"But the county hospital's management suddenly transferred her from the position she'd held for decades to the emergency room, which she wasn't familiar with at all.

"As a result, she kept making mistakes and nearly caused the death of a child receiving emergency treatment.

"The head nurse of the emergency room wanted to report her. She didn't want to be sent before a review board and humiliated, so she resigned outright.

"She gave the county hospital management exactly what they wanted. Not only did she lose the highest pension—she lost every cent of her pension."

"I see."

Adam frowned.

Medical staff were indeed expected to keep learning throughout their lives.

But as people aged, their ability to learn new knowledge declined. That was simply a natural law.
