"Melendez, take Mr. Aubrey for pre-op preparation," Adam instructed. "Come into the Operating Room with me afterward."
"Yes."
Shorty nodded and wheeled Mr. Aubrey away.
"What about me?" Meredith asked.
"You?" Adam smiled. "Sit this surgery out."
Since Shorty had already used Mr. Aubrey to complete the screening.
It was time for fortunes to turn.
Adam did not want the surgery to fail.
"Why?" Meredith stared at Adam. "Do you have a problem with me too?"
"You're overthinking it." Adam said sincerely, "You know Mr. Aubrey's luck is really terrible.
"I may be called Adam's Hand, and my luck has always been decent, but it'll probably only barely offset Mr. Aubrey's bad luck.
"If you're added to the mix... Your luck lately hasn't been as bad as Mr. Aubrey's, but it really hasn't been good either. I'm afraid I won't be able to offset both of you..."
"You!"
Meredith trembled with anger.
"How about I get you for the next surgery?" Adam soothed her. "It really isn't aimed at you. Luck is a mysterious thing; you really can't afford not to respect it.
"You should understand that
