Background

Xu Xiaoshou awakens in the body of a pale, undernourished eighteen-year-old youth after what he identifies as a painless transmigration. He quickly discovers that attacks, mockery, suspicion, and other reactions directed at him generate Passive Value, forcing him to seek crowds and deliberately provoke strong emotions. 1 5

During the Wind and Cloud Tournament, he turns his apparent weakness into a resource. He offers his Ninth-Grade Spirit Sword as a prize to anyone who can break his defense bare-handed, incites the contestants into attacking him, and uses their strikes to harvest Passive Value. His Sturdiness allows him to survive the assault while strategically exhausting his opponents. 6 8

A Passive Key later grants him Sword Mastery and an illusory encounter with the Seven Heaven-Walking Swords. This produces Leisurely White Clouds, Acquired Sword Intent, and a sudden cultivation breakthrough; the resulting sword strike destroys his residence and draws the attention of Xiao Qixiu and Elder Qiao. 11 12

Xu refines Emberlight Fire Seeds despite the extreme pain involved. Elder Sang witnesses this feat and chooses him as a disciple, beginning a difficult but protective master-disciple relationship that becomes central to Xu’s later growth. 31 103

Appearance

Xu Xiaoshou initially appears as a thin, pale eighteen-year-old with freckles on his cheeks, a high nose, and chapped lips. His unhealthy appearance reflects prolonged deprivation before his awakening. 1

Repeated upgrades to Sturdiness transform his body. By the time he reaches the Throne level, he has grown taller, lost his gauntness, and developed a proportioned, muscular physique with jade-like skin. When he abandons his disguises, he is described as strikingly handsome and sharply magnificent. 770 914

  • Pale complexion and freckles in his original early appearance. 1
  • Frequently conceals his true face, aura, cultivation, and even physical traits through Concealment and Transformation. 444 916
  • Possesses an increasingly powerful treasure body, later recognized by others as a Master Physique. 423
  • Often adopts conspicuous disguises, including a straw-hat elder, a sickly young master, and prestigious historical figures. 560 606 1318

Personality

Xu Xiaoshou is provocative, theatrical, and intensely aware of the value of public attention. He regularly irritates opponents into attacking, doubting, fearing, or admiring him because every reaction can become Passive Value. His provocations are rarely random: he studies people, identifies emotional weaknesses, and uses words to control the pace of a confrontation before fighting begins. 5 27 381

He is also anxious beneath his confidence. Xu habitually prepares aliases, false explanations, escape routes, and layered deceptions because he fears being exposed or controlled by stronger factions. Kong Yuhen identifies this tendency as a manifestation of Xu’s anxiety and frequent lying. 1103

Despite his ruthlessness toward persistent enemies, Xu values people who stand with him. He refuses to treat A-Jie as an experiment, is enraged when Mu Zixi is abandoned for tactical reasons, and is deeply affected by Xin Gugu’s sacrifice. 929 864 555

Freedom is one of his defining ambitions. He resists factions that would dictate his path, but he can form alliances when they preserve his autonomy or protect those he considers his own. 582 697 1156

Abilities & Skills

Passive System

Xu Xiaoshou’s core advantage is a system fueled by Passive Value.

  • Gains Passive Value from reactions such as attacks, suspicion, mockery, fear, admiration, curses, and attention. 5 8 382
  • Exchanges Passive Value for Skill Points, Passive Keys, awakenings, and system evolutions. 25 443 758
  • Uses public confrontations as both combat opportunities and deliberate resource farming. 414 790
  • The system can intervene directly in lethal situations; its red interface destroyed the Gray Mist Man’s killing attack. 160

Physical Body and Recovery

Xu’s body is his most reliable weapon and defense.

  • Sturdiness — Develops from an Innate-level defense into a Grandmaster Physique, then a Master Physique, Throne Physique, Sovereign Physique, and eventually Sacred Emperor-level body. 7 136 423 770 771 1150
  • Berserk Giant / Limit Giant — Enlarges him into a giant combat form while preserving his consciousness; later forms can wield immense weapons and contend with Saint Emperor-level enemies. 326 1567
  • Endless Vitality and Full of Vitality — Provide rapid healing, sustained spiritual recovery, and prolonged combat endurance. 25 281 443
  • Countershock and Resilience — Reflect force back at attackers and resist knockback; together, they create a powerful rebound effect. 281 292
  • Limitation: His body is not absolutely invincible; special spiritual physiques and Sacred Physiques can rival or exceed a Master Physique. 666

Swordsmanship

Sword Mastery turns Xu from an unremarkable student into a rapidly evolving sword cultivator.

  • Sword Mastery — Grants instinctive sword comprehension, beginning with Leisurely White Clouds and later reaching Throne and Sovereign levels. 11 160 770 771
  • Sword Intent — Progresses from Acquired Sword Intent to Grandmaster sword intent and Sword Dao Throne-level understanding. 12 414 771
  • Ten-Stage Sword Finger — Uses Sharpness and mental force to turn his fingers into concealed blades capable of piercing stone and opponents. 103 250
  • Canon of Sword Observation — Observes swords to cultivate intent and inflict overwhelming pain upon targets; it defeated Gu Qing’san’s No-Sword Technique. 339 422 423
  • Heart Sword Technique — Cultivates Gods and Buddhas Under Eyes, attacks through intent, and can trigger opponents’ inner demons. 1078 1081

  • Myriad Sword Technique — Learns and surpasses Feng Xiaose’s Absolute Imperial Rule in battle. 1153 1154

Flame, Culinary Arts, and Alchemy

Xu uses Emberlight flames both as cultivation resources and as destructive weapons.

  • Emberlight Fire Seeds / Heavenly Flame — Refines Emberlight Fire Seeds into Emberlight Spirit Essence and Emberlight Heavenly Flame. 31 60
  • Five-Finger Seed Imprinting Technique — Compresses fire seeds into explosive techniques; later develops it into a Saint Martial Art. 416 1036
  • Mastery of Culinary Arts — Provides detailed knowledge of herbs, heat control, and pill formation; Xu uses it to improvise pills and expose flaws in conventional alchemy. 100 426
  • Alchemist certification — Receives a Tenth-Grade Alchemist badge from Shi Ti despite disrupting the examination. 313

Perception, Mobility, and Disguise

Xu’s utility skills support his combat style, infiltration, and acting.

  • Perception — Evolves from close-range awareness into long-range three-dimensional reconnaissance, later reaching a range of ten thousand miles. 443 1151
  • Concealment / Vanishing Art — Completely hides his cultivation aura and later enables disappearance that even Cutting Path experts struggle to understand. 444 760
  • Agility / One Step to Heaven — Grants short-distance teleportation and extreme evasive movement. 444 414
  • Transformation — Alters appearance, aura, and physical traits; Xu uses it to impersonate numerous identities. 516 916
  • Textile Mastery — At Master level, unlocks Puppet Thread Control; at higher levels it becomes part of his illusion and incarnation methods. 443 1661

Dao Disks and Mental Techniques

Xu later develops multiple Dao paths beyond conventional cultivation.

  • Life Dao Disk — Reaches 80% through Dao-Nurturing Seeds, nourishing life across Yujing City and forming a Life Pattern with Greed God. 1480
  • Sword Dao Disk — Begins at 18% and is forcefully advanced to 80%, granting broad comprehension of the Nine Great Profundities of Ancient Sword Dao. 1513 1514
  • Body, Soul, and Will Dao Disks — Achieve Transcendent Dao Transformation, greatly improving his resilience against guidance, his soul strength, and his ability to influence others. 1554 1660
  • Illusion Annihilation Finger — A special passive skill obtained after the system consumes one million Passive Value; later used as one of his strongest mental attacks. 758 1285
  • Soul Reading — Reads targets’ thoughts and memories to expose identities, motives, and weaknesses. 1154 1531

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Hidden Pain — Xu’s spirit sword and first true sword companion. It reacts emotionally to his growth, cultivates alongside him through Sword Observation, and is later damaged in battle with Emperor Sword: Duzun. 11 339 1498
  • Yanmang — The third-ranked famed sword, a fire-element weapon secured for Xu through his merits against Ghost Beasts. He achieves unity of man and sword with it and uses West Wind Withers Snow to destroy Master-level White Skeletons. 461 469 474 475
