It could be said that, at this very moment, the Third True Ancestor Jada lived for Saigō alone. She needed Saigō to give her the desire to keep living.
To satisfy her desires, to fulfill her needs, Saigō understood that he could completely use the Third True Ancestor as his tool, his plaything.
And Jada would not mind. A True Vampire who had lived for over ten thousand years had long forgotten her dignity and pride amid those endless lonely years.
That was why Jada looked arrogant, yet spoke so casually, lacking the aloofness of a powerful being.
The Jada of the past had possessed such things as well, but she could no longer find them after the passage of countless years.
Saigō understood very well that while the Third True Ancestor remained interested in him, he could even toy with her body and soul as he pleased, until the day she lost interest in him.
But if Saigō could keep her interested in him forever, this True Vampire would obey him forever.
What a twisted personality. A crazy woman.
Saigō silently cursed, but at the same time, a deep worry arose within him.
Would he one day become as miserable as Jada after enduring endless years?
If that truly happened, then even possessing the power to destroy heaven and earth would only be tragic.
However, Saigō quickly forced himself to forget such thoughts. Across both lives, he had only lived for a little over fifty years. He was still far from Jada's ten thousand years.
"Aurora, go out with them for a while."
Saigō spoke at that moment.
"O-Okay. I will leave on my own... Um, y-you should be careful. This woman is terrifying."
Aurora cast Jada a fearful glance and could not help reminding Saigō to watch out for his safety.
Aurora was just a little too foolish. She actually said it aloud right in front of Jada. Fortunately, the Third True Ancestor did not care in the slightest about her hostility and wariness.
"You two, take Hektos and Hebdomos outside as well. What comes next is not something you should hear."
Jada knew that Saigō wanted to ask about True Vampires, Familiars, and the events of ten thousand years ago.
She did not mind telling Saigō, but some things could not be heard by others, especially the Night Lord of Blazing Light and the vampires.
"Yes, Lady Jada!"
The two tall, beautiful female vampires answered respectfully, then led Number Six and Number Seven out of the room.
Aurora looked back with every step, casting Saigō several worried glances. Under his nod of reassurance, she finally followed the others out.
"Then tell me now. How exactly were True Vampires born, and what are Familiars?"
Saigō crossed his legs and slowly spoke as he sipped the red wine in his glass.
The Queen of the Celestial Tribe ### "True Vampires and Familiars..."
The Third True Ancestor Jada reclined against the soft cushions. Her strong, shapely legs kicked off her white high heels, her arched feet tensing into an alluring curve.
Jada's temperament had changed completely. Her formerly wild, feral air had become elegant, though her posture remained far too uninhibited and casual.
Her slender fingers lifted the glass before her. She looked at the red wine within as though she were gazing at blood.
Candlelight flickered through the luxurious room inside the submarine, casting dim shadows all around.
"To speak of True Vampires and Familiars, we must begin with the first living beings on this planet."
"...First, there is one point that must be made clear: the humans who now rule this planet are not native to it."
"Like the nearly extinct dragons on this planet, humanity originally came from another world known as the Eastern Land."
"...Zarathustra, you should know about the Celestial Tribe, right?"
Jada leaned her delicate body forward slightly, resting her elbows on the coffee table before her as her calves swayed gently beneath the candlelight.
"Of course. I have been in this world for five years now. There is no way I would not have heard of the Celestial Tribe."
"...The Celestial Tribe has many names. For example, the ancient superhumans of prehistoric civilization, or perhaps the Celestial Tribe is what people call the gods."
Saigō gazed into the Third True Ancestor's slightly weary emerald eyes as he spoke.
"Yes, that description is not wrong. With the technology mastered by the Celestial Tribe, calling them gods would not be an exaggeration."
"...In truth, the Celestial Tribe was not native to this planet either. They once went to the Eastern Land, seized some of that world's humans, and fought a bloody battle with that world's dragons."
"After accomplishing their goal of taking the humans, the Celestial Tribe left the Eastern Land and came to this planet, severing the connection between this planet and the Eastern Land."
"...Some dragons did follow the Celestial Tribe here, but after such a long time, most of them have died. The dragons remaining on this planet can probably be counted on one hand."
Jada spoke with measured ease, recounting the true history of this planet's living beings.
"Why did the Celestial Tribe seize humans?"
Saigō asked the most crucial question.
"Ha, you truly are perceptive. That is right. The important thing is not that the Celestial Tribe and humans are alien species, but why the Celestial Tribe seized humans."
Jada suddenly gave a cold smile. "...It is simple. Although the Celestial Tribe possesses powerful magitech, every member of the Celestial Tribe—or rather, their entire race—has an enormous flaw."
"...The Celestial Tribe must drink human blood to survive, and they cannot be exposed to sunlight. Under the sun, members of the Celestial Tribe turn to ashes."
"So-called humans were actually food raised by the Celestial Tribe. The Celestial Tribe survived by consuming human blood!"
"...Does that sound somewhat familiar? It is the oldest vampire tale. In the oldest legends, vampires had to drink human blood, and vampires could not endure sunlight."
"But modern vampires mainly eat grains and meat just like humans. Their urge to drink blood is an expression of sexual desire, and vampires do not die directly under sunlight."
"...Thus, that ancient tale came to be regarded as mere legend. But the vampires in that legend were actually the Celestial Tribe, whom humans regarded as gods!"
"The Celestial Tribe once tried to use their powerful technology to alter their racial flaws, but even at the peak of their technology, they could not accomplish it."
The Third True Ancestor spoke as though she had personally witnessed that scene from ancient history, unfolding the story of the past before Saigō like a painted scroll.
No, it would be more accurate to say that Jada herself had survived from that era.
And the Third True Ancestor's words undoubtedly revealed one thing.
Saigō said with certainty, "...I see. True Vampires are the Celestial Tribe, and all modern vampires are Celestial Tribe members as well."
"...Modern vampires may be inferior to the Celestial Tribe of old in terms of technology, but they have also shed most of their racial flaws. Is that evolution, or degeneration?"
Jada declared, "...It is evolution!"
After a pause, she continued, "...In human legends, Sin God Cain is the ancestor of the demon race. Some even say that modern demons are fallen gods of the Celestial Tribe."
"...But that is actually wrong. All modern demon races are merely creations of the Celestial Tribe."
"The strong beastmen were laborers who mined ore, while Treants planted forests. Every race had its assigned work."
"...The Celestial Tribe dwelled high in castles in the sky. The humans upon the earth were food, while the other races were slaves created to develop this planet."
"This is the true history of this planet!"
Jada cruelly revealed how, during that prehistoric civilization, the Celestial Tribe had brutally ruled this land.
Everyone had been slaves and food. They had not even counted as pets. From the moment each life was born, it had to serve the Celestial Tribe and offer up its flesh, blood, and soul.
Meanwhile, the members of the Celestial Tribe lived high above the heavens, enjoying every luxury and privilege.
Saigō gave a mocking laugh. "...Gods? It seems that you, the Celestial Tribe, were the true demons."
Jada did not deny it. Judging by what the Celestial Tribe had done, their actions were no different from those of demons.
"Hah..."
Jada let out a soft breath. Perhaps because she had told a stranger a secret known to only a few people in the world, laying bare all the hidden things in her heart, she felt an unusual sense of relief and pleasure.
"Where there is oppression, there will be resistance. The Celestial Tribe high above did not care about the ants living upon the earth."
"...But humanity was a race with extraordinarily strong adaptability. While existing as food, humans acquired Celestial Tribe technology through various means and developed part of it into technology of their own."
"Humanity eventually established its own civilization on the earth. They wanted to build a tower that reached the heavens and drag the gods above down to the earth."
"...Humanity eventually rebelled, and all the other races enslaved on the earth joined forces as well."
"Humans provided technology, while the other races provided their own abilities to contend against the Celestial Tribe."
"...At first, the Celestial Tribe thought it was merely another minor disturbance like before. They believed they could easily crush the rebellion with their technology."
"But in the end, the Celestial Tribe discovered that this time was different. The races of the entire world had united, and in both ability and technology, their strength was no less than that of the Celestial Tribe."
"...It was a long and drawn-out war, a war in which the Celestial Tribe suffered defeat after defeat."
Jada curled up in her chair, hugging her legs as her ten toes tightly gripped the edge of the seat. It was clear that her heart was far from calm.
"The First True Ancestor, Ayajiz, was a general of the Celestial Tribe at that time, commanding its army in war against the resistance."
"...The Second True Ancestor, Aswardgull, was a renowned researcher who worked in a Celestial Tribe laboratory."
At that point, Jada paused.
Saigō looked at her thoughtfully and continued, "...Then what about you, Jada Kukulkan?"
"Me?"
The Third True Ancestor gave a self-mocking smile. "...The Celestial Tribe's ruling system was led by the imperial family, beneath which stood the rulers of the thirteen clans."
"...And I was the Celestial Tribe's heir, the imperial princess of old, the one who should have become the ruler of the Celestial Tribe!"
Saigō had already guessed Jada's identity. He stared intensely at the Chaos Princess before him and laughed. "...So this is where your title of princess came from. You are a true princess!"
"...The princess of the Celestial Tribe, which once ruled this planet and every living being!"
Familiars Were Nuclear Weapons ### "The Queen of the Celestial Tribe? Hmph, that term sounds truly ironic now."
The Third True Ancestor Jada gave a sarcastic smile, mocking both the Celestial Tribe and herself.
"Now we come to the important part, Mister Zarathustra... The Celestial Tribe was steadily losing ground in its war against the coalition of a hundred races led by humanity."
"...Even many Dead Cities were breached. As for what Dead Cities are, you can understand them as a kind of fortress, one of the most powerful weapons controlled by the Celestial Tribe."
"Under such circumstances, the pampered Celestial Tribe finally panicked. If this continued, their rule would end, and the Celestial Tribe itself would be destroyed."
"...The imperial family and the heads of the thirteen clans convened a meeting. In the end, they decided to use a secret weapon that the Celestial Tribe had always kept sealed—the Familiars!"
Jada leaned slightly forward. Her voice was low, and no emotion could be heard within her words.
"Familiars are aggregates of magical power. Though members of the Celestial Tribe are said to be immortal and possess astonishing regenerative abilities, that is only a claim. No member of the Celestial Tribe can truly live for ten thousand years."
"...But Familiars are different. They are twisted monsters composed entirely of magical power. A portion of them is fused with the Heavenly Principles, granting them many incredible special abilities."
"And most terrifying of all, Familiars cannot truly be destroyed unless you make all magical power on this planet—within this universe—vanish."
"...These monsters, which exist in another dimension, have no physical bodies. Yet the Celestial Tribe used its technology to summon them and give the Familiars physical form in the material world."
"At first, some opposed using Familiars because they could not be controlled. They were monsters of pure destruction, possessing very little self-awareness."
"...Once Familiars were released, these monsters would carry out endless destruction and devastation."
"So what if the Celestial Tribe used Familiars to destroy its enemies? The Celestial Tribe itself was powerless against these Familiars. They would destroy the earth, destroying every form of matter and life they saw."
"...After releasing the Familiars, all that would remain in the end would be a land with nothing left. This planet would become a lifeless wasteland unfit for life."
"The Celestial Tribe were wanderers themselves and had only just managed to find a planet where they could survive. Thus, some members opposed the proposal, while others used the loss of humanity as food as an excuse to oppose it."
"...But the opposition still failed. Even if they lost this planet, the Celestial Tribe could continue wandering through the universe. Even if humanity perished here, the Celestial Tribe could find another opportunity to seize more humans from the Eastern Land."
"But if they allowed the Celestial Tribe's slaves to rebel, the Celestial Tribe itself might be annihilated. Faced with such a crisis of life and death, the Familiar Warheads were deployed."
Jada paused. Her right hand trembled slightly. She had likely experienced that battle which destroyed the world and personally witnessed the world war that annihilated civilization.
"They sealed Familiars within Vessels—the same technology used to create Night Lord of Blazing Light Vessels—then sealed the Vessels inside warheads and fired them across the world."
"...These Familiars would then appear throughout the world and carry out indiscriminate destructive rampages. That was the Familiar Warhead, the Celestial Tribe's ultimate weapon, a weapon akin to mutual destruction."
"At first, the results were excellent. The coalition of a hundred races had no means of resisting the Familiar Warheads. One human city after another was destroyed, and hundreds of thousands, even millions of lives vanished in an instant."
"...Before the Celestial Tribe could celebrate its victory, those arrogant fools forgot one thing: human technology had already come infinitely close to that of the Celestial Tribe."
"Humans also developed a method of summoning Familiars during the crisis. It was not some advanced technology in itself; all one needed was to find the alternate dimension where Familiars existed. The true difficulty was that no one could control Familiars."
"...Humans also began mass-producing Familiar Warheads and firing them at the Dead Cities where the Celestial Tribe resided. Even though Dead Cities could hide within other dimensions, the bizarre powers of Familiars could breach the barriers of space."
"At that point, neither side could stop. All they could do was fire Familiar Warheads at one another until everyone perished together."
The Third True Ancestor Jada bit her lip hard. Even though she could now control the twenty-seven Familiars she possessed.
