Background

Saigō was the first of three Human Original Text candidates and the elder brother of Sakamaki Izayoi and Saigō Homura. He was originally intended to die during the Third Star Particle experiment, but the Mother of Good Gods and the Mother of Evil Gods altered his fate at the cost of their Spirits. Their implanted knowledge and future memories made him believe he was a transmigrator from another world. 572 610 641

His initial strength came not from cultivation, but from the Third Star Particle and the Mother of Evil Gods’ Spirit. Saigō regarded this inherited power as unstable because it had not been earned or fully understood, motivating him to study, fight, and gradually make his abilities his own. 17 78 114

During his early travels, he formed a contract with Nangong Nayue and intervened in the conflict surrounding String God Island. He later acquired the Fourth True Ancestor’s Familiar Beasts, expanding the destructive range that his one-on-one Decay ability initially lacked. 20 21 78

Saigō ultimately learned that he was neither solely a servant of evil nor a transmigrator. By reconciling his humanity with the powers of the Mothers of Good and Evil, he became the founder and doctrine of his own Zoroastrian path. 515 536 641

Appearance

Saigō generally presents himself as a composed, handsome human man, though his appearance can change alongside his existence and power. His true demonic manifestations are associated with black flames, immense size, and draconic traits. 61 186 458

  • His human guise can dissolve into black flames. 17 41
  • His true demonic form is a giant hundreds of meters tall and engulfed in black fire. 61
  • In Little Garden, he can manifest a colossal three-headed dragon before returning to a humanoid combat form. 186 214
  • He is frequently depicted in black or dark formal clothing, including a black robe with gold trim as Demon King. 186
  • As a Third Rank being, he can alter his existence so others cannot recognize his original appearance. 458

Personality

Saigō is calculating, patient, and acutely aware of power dynamics. He prefers plans with clear objectives and tends to treat promises, contracts, and favors as tools for shaping others’ choices. He is capable of political maneuvering, strategic restraint, and long-term planning rather than pursuing authority for its own sake. 40 64 201

His methods are often cruel, coercive, or manipulative, particularly toward enemies and captives. However, he distinguishes between those he sees as malicious and ordinary people suffering through no fault of their own. He refuses to deliberately prey upon innocent, kind people merely for pleasure, considering this boundary proof that he remains human. 103 277 280

Saigō’s central personal struggle is balancing good and evil. The Mother of Evil Gods initially pushed his thoughts toward extreme malice, while the Mother of Good Gods restored clarity, empathy, and a more human emotional range. He eventually rejects obedience to either extreme, believing that both absolute goodness and absolute evil lead to ruin. 278 515 536

Abilities & Skills

Decay

Saigō’s defining Great Demon power causes aging, exhaustion, deterioration, and death. It affects not only living targets, but also matter, energy, magic, and concepts touched by him. 20 42 43

  • Drains stamina and life force; he can restrain its effect rather than immediately killing a target. 20
  • Rapidly ages living beings into death if used without restraint. 20 60
  • Causes weapons to rust and magic to dissipate on contact. 43
  • Nullifies phenomena such as lightning, flames, rain, and Familiar Beast attacks. 42
  • Initially excels in single combat but lacks the broad destructive range of large-scale calamity powers. 21

Fourth True Ancestor Familiar Beasts

After obtaining the Night Lord of Blazing Light’s Prime Bodies, Saigō gains command of Aurora and eleven other Familiar Beasts. Under the World Tree system, they exist as a single skill: Forbidden Twelvefold Existence. 69 78

  • Provides large-scale destructive power that compensates for Decay’s close-range focus. 21 78
  • Can manifest as twelve enormous bone wings from Saigō’s body. 78
  • Includes powerful Familiar Beast-derived Super-tier Magic, such as Divine Sheep Diamond. 69 112
  • Allows Saigō to deploy calamity-scale attacks against True Ancestors and other high-level opponents. 83

Avesta

Avesta is Saigō’s Divine Group Worldview and one of his greatest defensive and conceptual abilities. Its first three thousand years create a void separating good from evil. 197

  • Good-aligned attacks cannot harm him while the void remains active. 197 214
  • Its second three thousand years can reproduce the worldviews of other divine groups. 197
  • Can summon and support his Great Demon Spirit avatars in battle. 197
  • The void’s known countermeasure is a Human Worldview. 197

Great Demon Spirits

Saigō possesses six Great Demon Spirits: Decay, Malice, Weakness, Chaos, Treason, and Destruction. He can manifest them as separate avatars while remaining their central wielder. 197 515

  • Malice and Decay reached Third Rank before his other Spirits. 197
  • Chaos was restored after prolonged repair during his time in Britain. 357
  • Treason can force powers, contracts, or abilities to turn against their users. 295 330
  • Destruction is pure annihilating force, capable of tearing apart even an interdimensional rift. 438
  • To avoid becoming enslaved by evil, Saigō later distributes Spirits to selected retainers rather than retaining every Spirit within himself. 436 515

Holy Annihilation

Saigō independently researches and learns Holy Annihilation, considering it more truly his own than powers he merely inherited. 114

  • Operates on a level comparable to World Item effects and the Omnipotence Domain. 114
  • Draws upon cosmic and “Heavenly Principles”-level mysteries rather than ordinary magic. 42 114
  • Can convert supreme goodness into supreme evil through Avesta-based manipulation. 138

Martial Arts and Swordsmanship

Saigō inherited extensive combat experience from ancient demons, then refined it through practical combat and long-term sparring. 41 154

  • Learns rapidly from opponents, turning inherited knowledge into personal skill. 154
  • Developed swordsmanship from novice-level execution into a style capable of pressuring Raiden Ei. 154
  • Reached the extreme of human martial capability through decades of sparring with Ei. 174
  • Combines technical combat skill with the physical power and resilience of a Great Demon. 190 197

Human Original Text

As the eldest Human Original Text candidate, Saigō possesses an exceptional connection to human history and the balance between humanity, good, and evil. 572 641

  • Merged with the Human Original Text to maintain a human will while bearing immense divine power. 515
  • Entered the long river of Human History and experienced humanity’s collective epic. 641
  • Reached First Rank through his understanding of karma, good, evil, and human history. 641
  • Can later draw past beings into the present through the river of history. 643
