Annie Yulian stood at the doorway, her body transparent. She was not wearing that beautiful wedding dress, nor was she veiled, so the ligature marks on her neck were especially obvious.
"A soul?"
For a soul to remain behind rather than continue onward, special conditions were often needed. A corpse being affected by a relic was one such special circumstance.
The woman at the door did not look at Shade or Iluna. Instead, she gazed sorrowfully at Toby Yulian's headless corpse on the floor. But unfortunately, this man had merely been killed by the undead; his soul had not remained behind.
Shade did not know whether he had continued onward or been absorbed by the relic. In any case, Toby Yulian had committed so many crimes just to see his younger sister again. Yet when her soul truly returned, he himself was already gone.
"This is an ordinary soul."
Shade said that this sort of soul was like the one he had once seen belonging to someone who had died in an attic with illegal magazines. Even if left alone, it would be fine; after some time, it would depart on its own.
But after thinking it over, Iluna still walked over.
"Is there something you want to say?"
The seventeen-year-old girl asked earnestly. Miss Annie Yulian's soul seemed to retain a certain degree of intelligence as she looked at Iluna, who was covering one eye.
"I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble."
Her voice was very gentle. She had probably been a very gentle person in life as well.
"This isn't your fault. Now, please continue onward."
Iluna said. Under the gaze of that strange eye, the soul was becoming transparent.
"I... actually knew that my brother had complicated feelings for me, but we could never be together."
