In the Year 1765 written at the bottom, Delarion was still engaged in full-scale war with Kasonlik. This tower had likely been an outpost of the Kingdom Army back then, but as the front line advanced and new borders were established, it had been abandoned.
The traces of fire Shade had seen inside the tower earlier had probably been left by hunters who had passed through long ago.
"This really is Middlesburg!"
That was what excited Shade the most.
Besides Priest Augustus, Shade's friend Captain Rades was also stationed at Wind Arising Path, while Miss Black, the "missing" younger sister of Miss White whom he was looking for, was vacationing in Middhir Fort City.

Rather than leaving immediately, Shade circled the tower once more and discovered that this lighthouse was actually near the middle of Sikar Mountain. Behind it lay a steep cliff face that was easy to defend and hard to assault. From where he stood, beyond the lush forest and towering rocks, he could actually see the massive steam city stretching northward at the mountain's foot.
The city below was divided by streets into small blocks. Under the Sun, the city built against the mountain foot extended toward the distant plains. Chimneys belched black smoke into the sky, and only by narrowing his eyes could he barely make out tiny black dots moving through the city.
The railway passed through the western part of the city, connecting the northern plains of the kingdom with the entrance into the Rommel Mountain Range. This was the most important railway in southeastern Delarion. Through it, trade goods and travelers between Delarion and Kasonlik did not need to detour around the gigantic mountain range spanning the central-east of the
