Chapter Summaries

Shade defeated several Ring Arcanists and recovered the final Dragon Scale, then learned from Miss Pawo that the Dragon Devouring Order wanted a Chosen One’s power for its god. She warned him that the god would be strongest in daylight, while a sea battle between the Church fleet and the cultists had already begun.

• Shade fought the dragon-modified Ring Arcanists, defeated them, and recovered the Brass Dragon Scale, completing his collection of all seven Hawthorne Family Dragon Scales.
• Miss Pawo explained the Dragon Devouring Order’s plan and warned Shade that its arriving god would be nearly unbeatable in bright daylight, advising him to turn the battlefield to night.

Shade and his allies learned the Sword of Light’s trial and prepared to face the Dragon Devouring Order’s plans as a storm signaled the Seven-Tailed Player’s arrival. Shade went to Belinder Big Ben to begin the ritual, where he found Iluna and Miss Danist waiting.

• Miss Danist explained that Unknown Level Relics were dangerous, that their information could contaminate people, and that their use could irreversibly affect a Core Ling Rune.

As the Church worked to seal the evil entity, Shade realized the Copper Whistle might hold a different kind of support and prepared to return to the city, where the cultists were poised to act.

• Professor Danist and Shade drove the Seven-Tailed Player beneath the sea, but it rose again and corrupted several Dragons as the fleet and Church forces fought its tentacles.
• Grace and Helen joined the battle, and Miss Aurora later reproached Shade after Butterflies carried him back to the ship in Cat form.

• The cats and four companions lifted Shade beneath the Underworld Moon, where countless souls blessed him with protection from light, infinite spirit, increased luck, and greater charm.
• Sister Devlin placed Shade and Luvia atop the Belinder Manor rubble, where their companions gathered and Luvia demanded that the Priest, Nun, and Joey Barton bring Shade back from death.
• The evil god attacked Shade, but an enormous ancient figure appeared and erased both the attack and itself before the Long-Haired Luvia phantom urged the Nun to act.
