"Demon weapon? What do you need that for? If the Church finds out, it'll be serious trouble."
The Doctor did not refuse, but reminded him worriedly.
"It's fine this time. The place I'm going this time will basically have no living people, and probably not many dead ones either."
That was why Shade had never considered asking the Doctor for help when previous incidents had taken place in or around the city.
He looked at the Doctor, who hesitated before nodding.
"Fine, then. What kind of enemy are you dealing with? Humans? Alien Creatures? Demons? Or something even stranger?"
Shade thought for a moment.
"Any of those are possible."
"What exactly are you going to do? Wait a moment."
The Doctor got up and left the room. He soon returned carrying a box.
"This is a weapon I used back when I was low-ring. Later, I found it uncomfortable to use and left it sitting around."
Inside the mahogany case was a black handgun. It had an intensely metallic texture, its surface reflective like glass. Its overall design was exceptionally "wild"; for the moment, that was the only word Shade could think of. Dark-red patterns ran along the body of the gun and connected to the trigger.
Shade tried picking it up and found it extremely heavy, roughly twice the weight of a solid metal block of the same size. Yet that substantial weight gave him a greater sense of security instead.
He could sense the distinct demonic power within it. Even though the Doctor had deliberately suppressed the power originating from a Third Epoch evil spirit while crafting the weapon, the sensation of viscous black liquid flowing through his palm remained unmistakable.
