The angel smiled as she bid Shade farewell, then grasped her staff again:
"I will remain at Lake of Cherub in Huntington, awaiting the arrival and visits of mortals until the day the world ends and My Lord awakens. Should the need arise, I look forward to your next visit. May the light of Knowledge and Wisdom bless you. Farewell."
A trail of white light closed between Shade and the angel. The Goddess in the Lake vanished, unconcerned with the Chosen One, and even less concerned with the evil being about to be unsealed.
Shade felt utterly confused. He seemed to have heard something extraordinary just now, yet he did not think he had caught all of it clearly.
Need me to repeat it?
"She" whispered gently within Shade's heart.
"What is this supposed to mean? The Recorder contains knowledge. A coordination of Ancient God powers? And where do I have the power of a 'Recorder'? Don't I only have the power of the Moon—"
The three stone tablets in his arms, which he had been using for defense, were faintly heating up. In any case, the qualification of the Fourth Chosen One could be transferred even after the ritual had been held. That was tremendously favorable news for Shade.
Looking at the faintly warm golden Glimmerstone in his palm, resisting the urge to devour its power, Shade pressed it to his forehead with trembling hands as the angel had instructed. Then he heard a sigh:
Outlander, you have obtained "Witch Echo: Theresa."
It felt as though his forehead had been kissed. Then golden streams of light poured from the Glimmerstone and bloomed atop the lighthouse. Yet none of those fighting amid the wind and snow knew what had happened on the lonely tower roof.
The golden light
