Randall River Valley City lay on the river valley plain west of the mountains in southwestern Kasonlik. It was not a port city, but thanks to its exceptionally convenient water transport, ships could sail directly from the estuary into the inland river channels and reach Randall River Valley City. Combined with the north-south steam railway tracks, this made the city an important transportation hub city at the southernmost end of Kasonlik's West Coast.

Of course, the city was not famous for inland shipping, but for the scenery of the Randall River Valley Plain throughout the Old Continent.

Its spring scenery in particular was known as the most beautiful landscape in the Southern Kingdom. Even Shade had heard of the many annual spring celebrations in Randall River Valley.

More than thirty years ago, Randall River Valley had been hailed as the most livable city in all of Kasonlik. Even the royal family would vacation here every summer.

But all that had been more than thirty years ago. The arrival of the Steam Epoch had severely affected the city as well. In order not to fall behind the United Kingdom's level of development, the construction of Steam Factories had polluted its once deep blue sky.

Although the pollution here was nowhere near as severe as in Tobesk City, known as the "Steam Capital," it had become difficult to see a completely deep blue sky over the past decade or so.

But if one left the city and headed toward the River Valley Forest and mountains northeast of it, the air was still fresh and natural. The important figures of Randall River Valley City tried their best to keep pollution confined to the city itself. At least in recent years, its emissions of polluted gases seemed much better than those of other cities.
