The flames rushed toward Shade's face. He stepped forward and continued smashing the door before him, paying no heed whatsoever to what the other man was saying.
"Witches, the emperors of the Fifth Epoch! Having discovered that the world was heading toward its end, did the Witch Emperors truly leave nothing behind for the future world when the afterglow of their era faded? Did they really all leave?"
Beautiful and handsome faces formed from black light lunged at Shade, followed at last by the ancient and solemn holy emblem of the Witches.
Shade struck the door with ever greater force, the firelight nearly melting everything before him into molten iron.
"The Church, deities who inherited the power of the Ancient Gods! After those Ancient Gods departed, did the devout Believers who continued desperately upholding the order of the Material World truly know nothing of the future?"
