God sent the three iridescent bubbles drifting toward Shade, and even the cat and Miss Teresa turned to look. Within the three bubbles were scenes of a girl swinging in a garden with her father, a boy running across the grass with his friends and a puppy, and another boy holding his face as he gazed up at the starry sky from a window.
The rainbow light was extraordinarily gentle. Simply looking at those bubbles seemed enough to make every bad thought vanish without a trace.
"Look at that light. Only the dreams of childhood can fight the deepest darkness where there is no light."
The curious cat reached out with its little paws to grab the bubbles again, but Shade stopped it once more.
God smiled and said to Shade:
"This is something purer and more beautiful than crystallized dreams, the most precious and wonderful thing that can be harvested from this sea where light does not exist."
"No. The most precious and wonderful thing here definitely isn't that."
Shade unexpectedly objected, then took Miss Teresa's hand. The young witch's face flushed red, while God withdrew the iridescent bubbles.
"Then continue fishing. Let me see what else you can catch. The dreams of childhood and the dreams of the past intertwine to become one's adult self. And when childhood is once again used as a beacon to seek the past, people often see things they once failed to notice. If you can lead them out of here, I can give you a childhood dream crystal, Outsider. Have you, too, ever reminisced about the most innocent and beautiful years of your life?"
The maid's earrings had already been tied on. As Shade cast out the fishing line, the pair of earrings sank into the icy seawater. Almost the instant they
