Miss Benanis met those deep blue eyes for a second, blinked, then quickly shut the door again.
"What is it?"
Shade asked curiously. The witch abruptly shook her head.
"Oh, I might not have opened the door properly just now. Let me try again."
She adjusted her expression and took a deep breath before opening the door once more, but this time there was nothing outside.
Vanessa Benanis let out a deep sigh, relieved that it had indeed been an illusion, yet also filled with profound disappointment.
Before those complicated emotions could fully settle in, however, she heard Miss Sylvia's excited voice:
"Vanessa, look what I found! I just caught an ownerless young wild unicorn at Bella's estate!"
Miss Benanis turned to the left. The young black-haired witch was kneeling on one knee on the carpet, happily stroking the pure white little beast, which still had no idea what was happening. It sniffed hard at Miss Sylvia's scent, and the memories in its bloodline reminded it of a certain special kind of people.
"Ownerless? Wild?"
Miss Benanis repeated the words, then abruptly turned to Miss Belinder in the room.
"Bella, you've actually been raising a unicorn?"
"What?"
The Countess asked in surprise. Before she could react, the Little Unicorn broke free from Miss Sylvia and rushed over, squeezing its head through the gap between the door Miss Benanis was holding and the doorframe. Then it happily let out an "Aang~" toward Emilia, who had already woken up in bed.
The Elf Girl pretending to sleep had no choice but to wake up as well.
"Oh~ What time is it now? Can we have dinner?"
