With the matter of the Time Key temporarily concluded, this Monday could finally be considered truly underway. Before everyone left home that morning, Shade asked one final question:
"Galina, do you know where I can find Director Anlos right now?"
The last time Shade had met Director Anlos was several weeks ago. Director Anlos had said that when Military Intelligence Section Six reactivated its dormant agents in Moon Bay City, they discovered that one of them had vanished.
He had said that if they truly could not find the man later, he would ask Shade to help investigate. But since then, Shade had received no further notice.
But Shade was not meeting his superior that morning because of that matter. He wanted Military Intelligence Section Six to help investigate Moon Bay Bank.
He met Director Anlos at a restaurant on Silver Cross Avenue. Shade often brought the cat here for dinner, but it was still early, and only a few customers were having breakfast.
By the time Shade arrived, Director Anlos had already received the letter sent by Miss Galina's maid. He was seated at a corner table with his face hidden behind a newspaper. Shade had no idea why, despite living so close by, Director Anlos had arrived first.
"You want to find a specific account?"
Upon hearing Shade's request, the ordinary-looking middle-aged man hesitated for a moment.
"Do you know which bank?"
"No. I only know that, over the past two years, that account made large remittance transactions during certain specific periods."
Shade took out the dates Baron Chandler had provided in the morgue basement yesterday.
Director Anlos nodded, folded the paper, and slipped it into his pocket.
"Leave it to me. It's Monday. You'll have an answer before the end of the week."
"That quickly?"
Shade raised
