Sunlight spilled over his entire body. Though he felt utterly exhausted after ending Divinity Burning, Shade was not happy. Instead, he sighed:
"But reversing time will cause even greater panic among Moon Bay City's surviving citizens. And even if my power is enough to reverse time, I cannot revive lives that have already passed away.
"The prophecy of Moon Bay's destruction has, in the end, still come true."
Shade could not guess how many citizens had died after being caught up in those brief two hours, but he had already done his best. There was nothing more he could do.
"I keep feeling that I should do something. I inherited this power, so I should bear the responsibility."
Tolemy Albert said this, then paused and looked at his right hand. Beneath the afternoon sun, the Hope Diamond appeared in his hand, its fifty-eight facets casting dazzling seven-colored radiance.
Shade could not see anything in it, but the Coroner lowered his head for a glance and immediately understood:
"So that's how it is."
He suddenly turned to Shade:
"Do you remember the oath we made before this battle?"
The brilliant summer sunlight was so harsh that even Shade found it dazzling. He narrowed his eyes at Mr. Albert and slowly nodded:
"Of course I remember. If I die, your light will be given to those closest to me. If you die, my light will merge with the light that chose you."
"But that wasn't the most important part. The most important part was this: if we both survive this great battle, we will exchange the powers we need most."
Tolemy Albert put away the Hope Diamond and extended his right hand to Shade. Though the exhausted Outlander did not understand why, he still grasped the Chosen One's hand. Then he received
