Sylvia spoke as she left the steps and walked to the left.
The ground was not rugged, steep mountain rock, but flat brickwork buried beneath a thousand years of snow. After walking roughly a dozen steps, as the snow melted, what had looked like rocks protruding from the ground were revealed to be the remains of a wall.
The entrance to the Space Labyrinth was naturally not here. Sylvia stopped before the wall, lowered her head and counted the paving stones beneath her feet, then precisely stepped on three of them in succession with her long boots:
"Shade, remember the locations of these three stones. This is how the entrance is opened."
Then, without a sound, a large hole appeared in the ground beside them. Stone steps led downward from its entrance, in the same style as the staircase that had previously led to the mountaintop.
There were exactly thirteen straight stone steps, and at the end of them stood a smooth wall. Thus, even someone unaware of this place's secret would suspect there was another space behind that wall if they discovered the underground section.
Shade summoned his Destiny Ring. Under the illumination of the Spacetime Spirit Rune, the Hidden Wall vanished without a trace. He and Sylvia continued inward and saw the familiar Old Gods Statue and circular chamber.
The notes and materials once stored here had all been moved into the tower. Thus, after the twelfth landmark, "Second Underground Floor of Saint Byron's Library," Shade now possessed his thirteenth landmark: "Summit of Fatumonst Snow Mountain."
After entering the Space Labyrinth and establishing this landmark, he returned with Sylvia to the tower in the Higher Place.
The witch held Shade's hand and brought up another matter:
"In the future, you can come to this Snow Mountain on your
