The clattering of gun fragments bouncing across the reefs was soon drowned out once more by the tide. At that moment, the glowing serpent sheddings floating above the right shoulders of Mr. Mortis, Miss Reinhart, and Emilia lost their light and fell into each of their hands. Emilia looked rather disgusted by hers, but had no choice but to hold it.
Though she had clearly pushed herself beyond her limits with excessive spellcasting just moments ago, she did not feel the slightest discomfort now. Yet even as excitement continued to surge within her, she thought of something else:
"Um... will The Church recognize that I was the one casting the spell? Did I ruin Shade's plan?"
Rather than meeting up with Shade and the witch, she took the still-confused Miss Larson, found Unicorn Ellie where it had been hidden, and had it carry them both back to Snow Mountain Hall.
As for the shore, none of the three parties moved after the battle ended. But the Clown Troupe and Dawn Church members were more focused on sizing up Shade and the lady beside him.
Shade was more concerned about Emilia's situation, so he took the "Clown Card" from his pocket. Though they were far away, the "jokers" all recognized the card's appearance and immediately stepped back to make their stance clear.
This card was actually that useful.
Shade then glanced at The Church's group again. In full view of everyone, he beckoned with one hand and summoned the "earring" beside the horse into his palm. Silver flames flashed, and the earring had already become dim fragments.
Before figuring out what had happened tonight, he had no intention of communicating with The Church. He then picked up three relatively large fragments of the pistol. Under the gaze of the Dawn Church
