The Final Badge

The second badge was somewhat farther away, almost in the northwest corner of the castle. The room's door had been hidden, not through any thaumaturgical secret art, but because the patterns on the door and the icy wall were continuous. It would have been difficult to notice that the wall could be pushed open without close inspection.

When the door was pushed open, the chill inside made all three of them shiver.

"Isn't this a little too extreme?"

The room resembled a bathhouse, with two-thirds of its area filled with icy water. The liquid in the pool was crystal clear, and it appeared to be four or five meters deep.

"What kind of bath would be this deep? And is the floor really five meters thick?"

The second badge lay at the bottom of the pool's center. To lighten the mood, Shade even made a joke.

"This time, we aren't supposed to drink all the water here, are we?"

Miss Reinhart bent down and tried dipping her fingers into the water. Though her fingers entered successfully, they froze almost immediately.

She quickly grabbed Shade's hand to warm herself.

"I feel like part of my soul is about to freeze. This isn't as cold as what we drank earlier, but if someone really immersed their whole body in it, it would definitely be worse than the last problem."

So the Great Sin Chains extended from Shade's sleeve and entered the water. Frost formed on the chains as soon as they entered, freezing the spirit used to control them. The chains could not reach the bottom of the pool.

The silver whip formed by the Moonbeam Greatsword, as well as ordinary ropes and iron chains, encountered the same problem. It seemed that only a human body was permitted to enter the water.
