Major Rades was right about that, but he meant pulling strings through Duke Galina, whereas Shade was thinking of Saint Byron's. If Shade used Daniste's channels to explicitly "borrow" that card from the Seer Association for several decades or even centuries, the Association might truly agree, so long as the price was high enough.
But he felt there was no need for that at all. The "Myriad Aspects of Impermanence Cards" could not be recognized as supernatural, could not be recognized as related to Chosen Ones, and could not be recognized as possessing anomalous traits. If it was destined to belong to Shade, then it would come into his hands someday.
The two continued looking through each other's decks and chatted about recent news concerning Rhodes Cards over the past half year. For instance, City of Time Wheels was also actively vying for the right to host the next Great City Player in Year 1856.
Major Rades believed that, at least in terms of scenery, this was indeed a very suitable place to hold Great City Player. But he regretted that he would most likely have no time to compete next autumn. After all, he was an active-duty naval officer.
