Shade looked at Wei Ge. She avoided his gaze. Though she was still embarrassed about what had happened that afternoon, she ultimately walked up to him. Standing before him with her lips pursed, she looked at him for a long while before finally speaking in a soft voice:
"First of all, I want to apologize for what I did this afternoon."
"No, no. You saved me. If you hadn't appeared, I might have faced serious trouble. What you did was because of that Mermaid. It had nothing to do with you."
"Mermaid" referred to [desire]. Though it was the first time Wei Ge had heard such a description, she understood it immediately.
She gave no response to Shade's words. Still looking at him with a deeply melancholy gaze, she continued:
"So you already knew most of the people in the Council. In that game of thirteen choose one, you only met me on the tenth try."
That made Shade sound like some sort of dissolute man. He wanted to use probability to explain why Wei Ge's conclusion was wrong, but she had no intention of listening. Instead, she coughed softly.
"It's all Destiny's fault. All of it."
She wrapped her arms around Shade's neck, then slowly turned to look at Galina beside him. The Duchess asked in surprise:
"What kind of expression is that? You met Shade so late. You can't blame me for that, can you?"
Wei Ge was not normally petty, but after regaining her senses, she had recalled everything that had happened that evening.
"When you brought everyone charging in just now, you wanted to laugh at me, didn't you? Galina, don't think I didn't see through your bad intentions. I already suffered enough by meeting Shade so late, and not only did you fail to sympathize
