The weakened Lady Carmen immediately answered:

"It was me, God. Please save my daughter. Please lift her curse."

She knelt on the ground, pressing her forehead to the floor, and sobbed. But God did not immediately grant her plea:

"Though I may bestow grace upon mortals who come here, each person may make only one request. If you wish to heal your daughter, you will no longer have the chance to heal yourself."

Shade immediately understood the rule of "each person may heal only one person of one illness," but that was no problem:

"Then I will ask You to heal Lady Carmen."

But God gently refused:

"You did not come here to seek a cure. You are different from them."

Shade spoke again:

"Then let Lady Carmen's daughter ask You."

"A newly born life did not come here to seek help either. She has made no effort, so like you, she cannot ask Me for grace."

God still refused gently. Though He was the God of Benevolence, it seemed He would not lightly break His own rules either.

There were six people and one cat here. Little Mia was in a situation similar to Shade's, and the unnamed infant was excluded as well. That left only Lady Carmen, Lady Thorn, and the two Old Witches who could ask God for help.
