The Reappearing Twins

Miss Black's neighbor—the old gentleman Shade had met last time while walking his dog—was home today, and he still recognized Shade. When Shade explained why he had come and said he wanted to know more about Miss Helen Blake, the old man holding the leash shook his head.

"Though we're neighbors, I rarely saw my neighbor. I only helped watch her house from time to time. If you want to know more, you can ask old Pasolo. They seemed to be in contact. Yes, old Pasolo passed away a few days ago too."

The old man seemed somewhat sorrowful.

"There's one less old neighbor on this street."

"Have you lived here for a long time? Do you know anything about Miss Helen Blake's elder sister, Miss Grace White?"

Shade asked again.

"Yes, but I don't know much either. I moved here thirteen years ago and only met Miss White three or four times."

The lead ended there. Shade tried asking other neighbors on the street, but they were either not home or knew very little. The person who seemed to have known the most was indeed the already deceased Simir Passolo.

"Still, I have the address of my client, Miss White. I even sent a letter to that address."

As the carriage headed for the cemetery outside the city, Shade thought of this again. It was on the way, so Tifa had the coachman stop in front of Grace White's house.

Sure enough, no one answered when they knocked. Shade then knocked on the neighboring apartment's door, hoping to learn something from the neighbors. To his surprise, he received another letter.

"Miss White went to Middlesburg too?"

Shade looked in astonishment at the letter the neighbor had handed him.

"This is the letter she left for Detective Sparrow?"

Tifa asked.
