The Witch Emperor's Gift

"Is this some kind of proverb? Ahead lies a passage connected to death. It truly is a dead end."

Shade reached out and touched the stone slab, confirming that it was merely an ordinary object. But given his understanding of the Witch Council, once this was over, the Great Witches would probably take the slab away for their collection.

"How interesting."

He circled around to the back of the stone slab and found writing there as well. But unlike the neat letters on the front, the writing on the back resembled the traces left in the margins of nearby paper by an unkempt mathematician while working through calculations.

What was more, the writing on the two sides was not even in the same language:

"This is."

He narrowed his eyes and leaned closer, discovering that it was a fragmented sentence:

".Enter the Boundary of Life and Death, slay the Resurrected. Before death"

He read the words aloud, then frowned after a brief moment of thought:

"A Poem Chapter Fragment?"

Though the words were very short, their grammar and sentence structure were extremely similar to what Shade had seen on the stone figurine among Pasolo's burial objects.

"This doesn't sound like a sentence for determining the identity of a Chosen One. It sounds more like a requirement for the Chosen One Ritual. The location for the ritual must be within the Boundary of Life and Death, and the person performing it must have killed someone who returned from death. Then, before true death, something else must be done."

He recorded the words. They might prove useful.

Continuing inward, he found another narrow passage after leaving the platform. The howling Black Wind containing the power of death had now nearly reached the same level as the depths of the Interstice Nature Church.
