That night, the two of them did nothing. Luvia held Shade, giving him a perfect night's sleep.
He closed his eyes sometime after ten on wednesday night and woke at seven on Thursday morning without dreaming all night. Mia had not even woken him at six-thirty as usual, perhaps understanding that Shade was truly exhausted. When Shade opened his eyes, he even felt that this had been the best night of rest he had had since coming to this world.
"Didn't even have that dream of looking up at the Silver Moon."
He sat up in bed feeling refreshed. A night's rest had completely restored Shade to normal. The Girl with Purple Eyes was no longer in bed; she still had to visit the Seer Association, so she had already left. But the bedding was still warm, so she could not have been gone long.
In a very good mood, Shade crooked a finger at the tightly drawn curtains. With a soft rustle, they parted slightly, allowing the late autumn morning light filtered through hazy fog to shine into the second-floor bedroom.
"Meow~"
A pitiful-sounding meow came from the doorway. Hearing Shade get up, Mia trotted in from the living room on her short little legs and stood at the door, urging him to make breakfast.
Shade threw back the covers and was about to get out of bed when he suddenly smiled and held out a finger.
"Sunlight Ray."
A slender pillar of positive energy shot from his fingertip, leaving a tiny circle of light on the floor before Mia. Normally, Sunlight Ray only lasted an extremely short time and was used to fight undead creatures with powerful energy. Shade was controlling his own spirit and emitting the light at the lowest possible output, which allowed it to persist.
