The Heaton Seal was a very famous Thaumaturgy of the Sun Church. Since that parchment could be carried by a High-Ring Arcanist of the Sun Church, it was naturally no ordinary thing.
Its name did not refer to its inventor. "Heaton" was a rune in the Ancient Language, carrying meanings such as "immovable," "sturdy," and "protection." Thus, the "Heaton Seal" was also known as the Immovable Seal.
Thaumaturgies like "seals" mostly originated from the extraordinary powers of the Fourth Epoch. The Fourth Epoch had been an age of darkness and terror. Wars ravaged the Material World without cease, man-eating Alien Creatures roamed everywhere, and dark species enslaved humanity. Specifically, a "seal" required the caster to form rune-like gestures with all five fingers. It was later refined during the Fifth Epoch, the Witch Epoch, and incorporated into the Ring Arcanist system in the Sixth Epoch.
This Thaumaturgy required one to be at least 6th Ring to learn. It required no Spellcasting Materials, but the caster had to hold a sword as a casting medium. Either a physical sword like Night Watchman or a Spiritual Weapon like the Moonbeam Greatsword would do.
One hand inserted the sword into the ground beneath one's feet, provided the ground was slanted no more than thirty degrees, while the other formed the seal gesture: thumb and middle finger touching, little finger bent, ring finger and index finger crossed.
After activating the Spirit Rune, a circular golden shield would appear around the body. The shield could withstand nearly any form of attack—except Destiny attacks, of course—and the strength of the Immovable Seal depended on the amount of spirit. Furthermore, if the spell was canceled the instant an attack struck, the shattered metal shield would inflict even more powerful explosive damage upon the enemy.
Counterattacking required excellent timing,
