Holding his sword in both hands, Shade swung a Moonlight Slash forward. The brilliant moonlight briefly illuminated the corridor, but it passed straight through the snake's head, as though the snake truly were nothing more than an illusion.
The snake stared at Shade and slowly slithered toward him, carrying an increasingly powerful force of Whisper.
Since he did not know the relic's properties, he could not determine the exact reason. But from his contact with the snake just now, he could confirm that it had been in a physical state.
"Then why?"
When your attack touched its snake skin, the corresponding area transformed into a special state of Void. You did hit the target; you simply failed to harm it. This should be one of the relic's properties.
"Wherever it's attacked becomes Void?"
Shade understood. The best way to deal with such an enemy seemed to be attacking its entire body in an instant, though it was also possible that it could turn its entire body incorporeal.
"It really is a troublesome relic. No wonder he dared take on a task like this with only three rings. When I was at three rings, I was..."

Runes for Gluttony, Greed, and Sloth, written in the languages of different eras, linked and intertwined along the chains. After using a ritual to associate Sloth with this Thaumaturgy as well, both the strength and length of the Great Sin Chains had become even better than in the past.
