Background / History

Holy Dragon Village was originally known as Nanshan Village. Local tradition holds that a Holy Dragon once remained to guard the settlement, leading to its renaming; the Holy Dragon Dojo was said to have been established by that dragon's Beast Master. The dojo preserved Dragon Saliva Crystal Essence as an heirloom for the Holy Dragon's eventual return. Chen Xuan's inherited memories confirm that the legend was true. 2 129

The village initially lived in isolation, with little means to resist wandering Phantasmal Beasts. Chen Xuan's return to the dojo changed this: after hatching the Holy Light Dragon, its Holy Light healed villagers and renewed belief in the village's old legend. 2 3 19

During the Plague Rat outbreak, Holy Dragon Village remained unaffected because Chen Xuan's Field King Frogs, Guardian Scarecrows, and other Phantasmal Beasts eliminated the invading rats. The Holy Light Dragon then cured nearby villages, making Holy Dragon Village the center of renewed worship of the Beast God and Holy Dragon. 51 53 55

When the Quicksand Lord's desertification threatened the surrounding mountains and water sources, Chen Xuan traced the crisis from Holy Dragon Village and destroyed its source with the Nine Heavens Wind-Rain Dragon. The resulting rain ended the drought affecting Holy Dragon Village and neighboring settlements. 130 132 133

Layout and Environment

Holy Dragon Village has open land, orderly homes, fertile fields, ponds, mulberry trees, and intersecting paths. Its residents traditionally live by farming and raise livestock. 1

• Holy Dragon Dojo — Located at the far end of the village, with a large forest behind its courtyard. It serves as Chen Xuan's home, teaching site, and the center of the village's Phantasmal Beast activity. 19 79
