The Karda general was utterly shocked and tongue-tied by the enemy's strength. He glanced at the Purified and the other Heavy Cavalry around him, noticing that quite a few of them were already wounded.
Although the battle between the cavalrymen was bloody and brutal, these men had still been lucky enough to survive.
"One last charge!" General Karda roared inwardly. He could not accept these casualties. If the people back home learned that they had lost more than forty Purified in a single charge, he feared he would be unable to withstand their fury.
But by now, he had no other choice. If they defeated the enemy, then even if the Kingdom of Buckden could not unite against the Holy War Coalition because of the Young Emperor's death, it would still have to pay the benefits it had promised the Karda Sultanate first.
If that happened, then although the Purified had suffered heavy casualties, the Karda Sultanate might not vent its anger on him once it received sufficient benefits.
If they lost so many elite troops and still failed to win the war, General Karda had already imagined the brutal fate awaiting him. By then, even his family might be implicated.
With these thoughts in mind, General Karda made up his mind.
This was their final charge. If they could not defeat the enemy, the army under his command would be in danger of total annihilation.
Reiner observed the entire battlefield from behind his main formation, and the expression on his face relaxed somewhat.
That was because, no matter how one looked at it, the advantage on the battlefield was gradually tilting toward his side.
