Sir Andrew's Sacrifice

Every Temple Knight was an elite soldier with extensive combat experience.

Most of them had been raised by the church from childhood, receiving harsh training and education. They were extremely devout in their faith in the Holy Father and loyal to Pope Rossa.

Aside from the knights who had grown up in the church, there was also a group of knights from various noble families. They were second sons with no claim to inherit, or devout knights who had sworn oaths of allegiance to their faith.

They upheld such virtues as simplicity and frugality, and they did not fear death. On the battlefield, they could unleash tremendous fighting power.

Although these men lived simply, the wealthy church had never been willing to watch its elite troops die needlessly on the battlefield. As a result, their equipment was equally excellent.

They wore two layers of armor, yet this did not seem to place too great a burden on the knights.

Over the outermost layer of armor, they wore cross-emblazoned surcoats representing the church. Though they had few decorations, an imposing aura faintly radiated from them.

These knights, together with the Squire Knights, numbered more than seven hundred—less than two hundred fewer than the knights under Reiner.

Most of them were elites. Only those with sufficient combat ability could mount warhorses and fight alongside them.

Aside from the more than three hundred elite Crimson Gryphon Knights, the other knights under Reiner were somewhat inferior in combat ability, with wildly varying quality.
