Reiner had left Count Puston in the Imperial Capital to maintain order. Although the Imperial Capital looked somewhat desolate under the effects of the war, it remained orderly.

Squads of fully armed soldiers patrolled the streets. More than a month had been enough for the lightly wounded soldiers to recover, and they had donned their armor again to do whatever they could.

Currency was still quite valuable. Just two copper coins could buy a whole day of drinking at a tavern, and one more copper coin was enough to find a lady to spend time with. Quite a few soldiers had obtained loot worth several gold coins on the battlefield, so a little recreation was nothing to them.

Time passed quickly. While Reiner led the army on a full day's march and was making camp to rest, order in the Imperial Capital was also being strictly maintained.

The Imperial Capital was utterly silent beneath the night sky. There was not a single person on the streets. If not for the occasional glimmer of faint light from a window, the place would have looked like a terrifying ghost town.
