Sitting in a bright office, Joey and his family listened to the insurance manager say something that sounded like they had just heard it not long ago, their minds somewhat dazed.
Joey's mother reached out again and took two hard fruit candies from the pretty glass dish beside the table, unwrapped one and put it into her mouth, then tucked the other into her clothing pocket.
She had already hidden three of them, and she felt she could hide a few more.
Though she did not quite understand why the father and son's expressions looked bad when the interview was a success, she felt this was mostly likely a good thing.
