Any problem was a minor matter before anyone involved died.

But once someone was dead, the problem became serious! The sound of gunfire still seemed to echo over the harbor. An Army Officer stood there with a grim expression, his hand trembling slightly, the pistol in it still smoking.

There was a wound on his temple, a broken brick at his feet, and a fallen sailor.

It only took a second to imagine what had happened.

That poor sailor had used the brick to smash the Army Officer in the forehead. He had probably wanted to hit him a few more times, but the Army Officer had drawn his pistol!

Blood on the ground slowly spread through the gaps between the harbor's century-old bluestone bricks, and the Army Officer's hand began to tremble even harder! He knew perfectly well what would happen next. He forced himself to shove the pistol firmly into its holster, then turned and tried to leave! If he did not leave now, he might not be able to get away at all.
