The politician who had shown capital the greatest malice in three hundred years was now hung forever on the walls of the Presidential Palace, and it was time for capital's carnival to begin anew.

The Federation's people were idiots.

How idiotic were they?

So idiotic that it was impossible to find words to describe them. Even now, more than seventy percent of the Federation's population didn't know how to file their taxes correctly.

The remaining thirty percent merely knew how to fill out their tax forms without making mistakes.

Television had been around for some years, yet roughly forty percent of the population didn't know how to change the channel.

Thirty percent of the population wasn't sure how to use a telephone properly. Some of them couldn't even dial the emergency number correctly.

That was the Federation's people.

They had created many miracles on the international stage, but when all was said and done, they were still just as stupid.

Idiots had their own way of understanding the world: watching television, reading newspapers, and learning about the world through various "mouthpieces."

They didn't care whether the "world" they learned about was the real world. They only believed the first-hand messages they received.

Take the alien craze from a few years ago. Someone claimed to have seen aliens and even took photographs.

In the end, even the person who had spread the rumor admitted that the photographs had been produced through special means, all for fifty dollars in writing fees.

Yet plenty of people still firmly believed that aliens truly existed, and that the contributor had changed his story because aliens had threatened him.

People still believed in medieval claims such as "the sky is round and the earth is square," so the influence of the media had become especially important.
