After building the fortress, the Octopus Monster encountered many problems.
The source of food was one of them. So many soldiers needed to consume all kinds of resources, and there simply wasn't enough aboard the warships.
In the wars of the past, the Octopus Monster had solved this problem by plundering as it supplied itself.
They would invade other people's planets, plunder food and resources, and then use those resources to advance their conquest.
But on Earth Star, they had run into trouble.
It was a frozen, inhospitable planet whose environment was so harsh that even the Octopus Monster couldn't stand it. Worse still, they couldn't find anything on the planet's surface that could fill their stomachs.
The larger a species was, the more energy it needed to survive. Ants might be able to maintain their vitality by eating a few crumbs of bread.
But an elephant had to eat one or two hundred kilograms of food a day.
Their enormous size had become a major problem for the Octopus Monster. With no supplies coming from the surface, their various resources were nearly depleted.
Someone suggested going to the ocean to find food. The ocean's resources were abundant, and if they could find a school of fish, it would definitely replenish their food supplies, at least.
But after looking at the ocean, frozen solid and as hard as steel, as well as the machine soldiers blockading them at high intensity twenty-four hours a day, they ultimately abandoned the plan.
Their supplies dwindled every day, giving the Commander a terrible headache. Their resources might not last until reinforcements arrived.
That was why it had recently been considering sending that army to its death first. Only after some of the Octopus Monsters died could the remaining food barely last a little longer.
