Science and Development
The Bayer Federation does not restrict government officials from engaging in commercial activities, as can be seen from the members of Congress, each of whom holds shares in numerous Private Equity Fund and may also own one or two companies.
There are few companies, but many foundations, the reason being to avoid any appearance of impropriety.
Ultimately, it all comes down to avoiding suspicion.
The charter and laws permitting business, but that doesn't mean it can be done with impunity as it literally means. This raises the issue of the transfer of benefits.
Determining whether a normal business transaction constitutes a transfer of benefits is actually quite simple. Examine the cause, purpose, and outcome of the transaction, as well as whether the beneficiaries arising from and derived from it meet the standards for "official misconduct" under Federal Law and whether they exhibit the characteristics of a transfer of benefits.
To put it simply, it means that official A holds shares in company A, company A and company B have conducted business transactions, and company A has made a lot of money from these transactions. At the same time, official A, through some means or by personally manipulating the situation, has enabled company B or its shareholders to gain benefits in certain aspects.
This is a typical case of job-related crime and bribery, which is strictly prohibited by Federal Law. Businessmen pay officials by enabling the companies they control to obtain huge legitimate profits in exchange for other benefits from the officials.
Such things are hard to prevent. Without thorough investigation, it's difficult to find out who actually holds shares in a company, such as Dyson Asset Management Company.
On the surface, it appears to be a joint venture between a Federal individual named Dyson and another asset management company. However, there are other companies holding shares behind the other asset management company. Without a thorough investigation, no one knows who the true owner of Dyson Asset Management Company is after so many layers of changes and shareholdings.
Everyone does this because it helps them hide things they don't want others to find out, and it also helps them protect themselves.
But when people need it, they can simply deregister a company and complete some necessary legal procedures to cut off anyone's tracking.
This also provides opportunities for those who engage in power struggles to create what appears to be a clandestine transaction of benefits, and then accuse their targets of job-related crimes and bribery.
Therefore, most members of Congress, including senior politicians, may get involved in many foundations, but they will not easily run their own companies, as that would only give others a loophole to breach their defenses.
If Lin Qi really becomes a member of Congress, his current businesses could become a breakthrough, and he certainly doesn't want to retire so early.
Every month, he receives donations from various foundations and groups, then speaks for these groups in Congress, votes for their proposals or against their opponents, and spends his days dealing with lobbying groups, Broker, and interest groups.
Many people would envy that kind of life, spending their days attending various banquets and parties, interacting with all sorts of social celebrities and politicians, and always appearing in the public eye.
But in Lin Qi's view, such a life was utterly joyless, like being a puppet, or a wild beast kept in a cage, with a very limited range of movement and very few things to do.
He didn't want that to happen. The world is so big and so wonderful; he still has so much to do.
The two stared at each other. Lin Qi's attitude was exceptionally resolute, which was also reflected in the changes in his eyes. He was resolute, unwavering, and without any flaws.
"Well, maybe we can talk again when you change your mind..." Mr. Truman was a little discouraged, but not too disappointed. Lin Qi had said before that he would not go into politics, at least not in the short term.
Lin Qi then raised some points about further negotiations. Once the delegation and the Bayer Federation reached a final agreement on establishing diplomatic relations, the next step would be deeper negotiations on political, commercial, and cultural matters, and perhaps even more.
Lin Qi added these points, "Let Nagaril take on our burden for the Federal. I've been thinking about this idea lately. We should encourage more people to go to Nagaril to seek opportunities instead of staying in the country and barely surviving on food aid."
They had discussed this issue before, but the discussion was somewhat vague. Truman frowned. "But our people may not be willing to work in a remote, underdeveloped place."
"There was no television, no newspapers, no cinemas, only barbarity..."
Lin Qi interrupted him, "But there's money there. We need to make people understand that there's money everywhere there, and if they go looking, they'll definitely find it."
He pursed his lips. "Create idols!"
Mr. Truman looked very serious. He had a unique perspective on changes in international relations, but some of the more detailed work was not his forte.
It's like a ship adrift on the Sea Surface. Everyone has their own role to play. He can tell which way to go, but he can't really help with how to get the ship across.
Lin Qi was right; his ideas and his concepts aligned well with Mr. Truman's own, and Lin Qi even came up with more.
"As more Federal citizens begin to travel to Nagaril to seek opportunities and development, some of our domestic social problems and conflicts will be alleviated, and the influx of wealth from abroad will allow us to quickly complete some of the current transformations,"
"This is not a war, but we will solve our internal problems!"
Lin Qi's words still made Mr. Truman feel somewhat uneasy. There was no doubt that his plan was not limited to these points; there were others, and even many more, that he had not revealed.
It's not that he's not saying it now, but the opportunity isn't ripe yet. Mr. Truman believes that once the opportunity arises, he will bring it up, and it might even be more astonishing than what he's saying now.
The two chatted for more than two hours before ending their "catch-up" session. By then it was past 1 a. m., and after their concentration dropped, they began to feel physical discomfort, namely hunger.
This is thanks to the food trucks near the Presidential Palace. In fact, some people initially thought that the mobile food trucks on this street should be removed because this is the core of Bu Peien and the core of the Federal, but this idea was not supported.
Many politicians forget about lunch when they get busy, and the Federal population's indifference to lunch—some even consider it less important than breakfast—means that most people don't take lunch seriously.
A hot dog, a meat sandwich, or a vegetable salad with meat is enough to make do, which is why the mobile food trucks on this street have managed to survive.
It's quite amazing that even today, food trucks still exist, and people still buy fast food.
While eating his fast food, Truman asked, "Do you have anything else planned for this afternoon?"
Lin Qi thought for a moment, "No, is there something you need?"
He nodded. "There's an exhibition this afternoon with some really interesting things that you might find interesting."
"About what?" Lin Qi finished his food in a few bites, then took out a handkerchief to wipe the oil and food residue from his hands and mouth.
"Science and technology!"
In fact, every year there are all sorts of strange and wonderful exhibitions across the country. We are currently in an era of technological explosion, although many people are unaware of this, but that is the reality.
The value of the exhibition lies in two aspects: promoting the level of technological development and showcasing new and exciting products, and also in helping inventors find suitable investors to fund their continued research.
Logically speaking, technological development should be the domain of scientists. However, many inventions and creations are not actually related to cutting-edge technology. These inventions, which may not be technologically advanced, have played a crucial role in promoting social development.
These inventions don't actually require highly sophisticated scientific knowledge; they are more like an assembly and improvement of existing technologies, and some people call them folk science.
This term might seem ridiculous and unscientific, but it's not as bad as it sounds.
Many small items and inventions available in the Federal market today come from these amateur scientists and inventors.
Previously, they had to take their inventions to different companies to showcase them, seek cooperation, or sell their inventions.
Later, with the birth of some "myths", more and more idle people joined this group, fantasizing that one day they could create inventions that would change the world.
They're everywhere; I don't know whose initiative it was, but some exhibitions started appearing.
They bring their creations and inventions to show to everyone, and if anyone is interested, they can discuss cooperation and investment.
Over the years, many inventions and creations have gone through this process, and gradually, exhibitions featuring heavyweight inventions and creations have begun to receive more attention.
High attention attracts more outstanding inventors to participate in the exhibition, creating a virtuous cycle. Even the inspiration for the modification of Vipai Industries's new generation of torpedoes is said to have come from an invention by a folk scientist.
Starting today, for the next two weeks or so, outstanding inventors from all over the country will bring their products to an open space outside Bu Peien for exhibition and display.
Lin Qi found it interesting and agreed.
Truman later arranged the afternoon's work in the office, and then left with Lin Qi. About forty minutes later, they arrived at the exhibition venue located in the suburbs.
The place was bustling like a holiday, with representatives from various industrial groups, the military, social elites, stockbrokers holding Little Yellow Sheet of paper, and many ordinary families who had brought their children to see the novelty.
"Sir, do you know what Radio Reconnaissance Array is?"
As soon as he got off the bus, a stockbroker approached Lin Qi and asked him something he had never heard of before.
