Flame and New Life
After a sweltering day, Nagaril finally cooled down in the evening. In the jungle outside the city, there was a little-known camp.
The Nagaril People are well aware of the dangers of the jungle, and they will not easily enter any jungle unless absolutely necessary.
That's the downside of tropical regions; they're rife with nature's malice. From highly poisonous plants to venomous animals, including natural traps, everything becomes a nightmare for any creature that ventures into the hunting grounds.
Every year, many people disappear into the depths of the forest for various reasons. If someone doesn't want to live anymore, they can just take a trip into the jungle.
It is precisely because people know how terrifying this place is that no one would think that there is a camp in the jungle.
This camp is the headquarters of the Youth Party in the Mengwu Province.
These young people found a way to carve out a safe place and build it into their headquarters. They would discuss things here and store important items here because it was safe enough.
A young man of short stature but with a resolute expression, thick eyebrows, and big eyes sat in the middle. He was the kind of guy that people knew from the moment he appeared in a movie that he wasn't the main character, but an important, upright one.
The feeling he gives off, his temperament, all seem to say this: I am an upright person with ideals.
He had a plant root stuck in his mouth, chewed it to a pulp, leaving only the tough, sturdy plant fibers. He swallowed the rest of the plant along with his saliva.
The rhizomes of this plant are found everywhere. They taste slightly sweet when chewed, but after chewing for a while, they have a slightly numbing sensation. They were first discovered by some ascetics who used them to relieve pain. Later, they became a "hobby" for some people who would pop one into their mouths whenever they had a spare moment, just for fun.
"Some foreigners are trying to escape. We've received some information from headquarters, and they hope we can be vigilant and detect these signs as soon as possible," he said, looking at the people around him. "These foreigners have drained us of our blood, and now they're thinking of leaving. We shouldn't let them do that!"
Merchants from the previous dynasty, such as Simon, were basically considering leaving. These merchants, who lived during the Preton Merchant House era, had a close relationship with Preton.
The Federal was the "culprit" that wiped out the Preton Merchant House. Regardless of whether the Federal would continue to pursue the joint liability of these Preton Mountain partners, staying here was not a wise choice.
As Federal interference intensifies, making money as easily as before is no longer an easy task for them. The end of the era of exorbitant profits will be the best time to leave.
Staying here will only lead to increased competition, causing them to gradually lose all the money they previously earned.
Therefore, these foreign businessmen from the "former regime" are fleeing, which has angered the Nagaril Youth Party headquarters, who consider it an act of theft.
The main reason why the Nagaril People were able to accept these foreigners as the Third Ruling Class was that they believed the money these foreign merchants squeezed and exploited from their own people would eventually remain on this land.
They all married local women and had mixed-race children, who, despite being mixed-race, remained Nagaril People.
They have Nagaril People ancestry, were born, grew up, and inherited their family businesses here; they are the Nagaril People.
But now, these foreigners are planning to flee with the wealth that belongs to the Nagaril People, which is outrageous!
Everyone watched the young man, who picked up a fire poker and poked the campfire. The firewood crackled and popped, and sparks rose into the air, bursting into a dazzling light before finally disappearing into the sky.
"During this period, our branches in various places have performed very well, as you all know..." The young leader looked at the others, and those whose gazes fell on him nodded. He then continued, "It has been proven that those officials and priests are not as terrible as we imagined. We have been destroying the temple for two days now."
"But who saw any divine punishment descend? Was anyone injured or suddenly killed as a result?" The young man's eyes shone with starlight. "No, no one was punished by God. God never existed; it was just a way for rulers to enslave us!"
"They told us not to resist, they made us grovel at their feet and obey their decisions, they made us live in this country like slaves, to become nourishment for their good life."
"Now, I want to say that this is over. There is no god, and nothing is insurmountable. Just as our great leader said, we will, and we will, take back what belongs to us!"
"If they want to fight, we'll let them fight!"
"If they want to bleed, we'll let them bleed!"
"Even if it means sacrifice, we will fulfill their needs!"
The young man's tone wasn't particularly impassioned, but it conveyed a sense of power. The young people around him were going through a confusing phase in their lives, their youthful misunderstandings of the world and the lingering beauty of their past colliding with harsh reality.
They couldn't figure out which way to go, but they still had passion and a fighting spirit. The Youth Party gave them a direction.
Everyone clenched their fists and stared at the young man in the lead. The young man himself seemed a little excited. After a while, he calmed down and continued with the previous topic.
"We can't let those foreign businessmen just leave like that. Although our ultimate goal is to expel these foreigners and change the current social structure, we need money, and they happen to have money."
Someone asked a question, "Chief, what should we do with the new Federal merchants?"
These new Federal merchants are also a problem; if a young man gives a bad answer, he will lose all his authority.
He treated foreign businessmen who had lost their backers with one attitude, and Federal businessmen with even more formidable power with another. This approach made him despised, though no one would say it aloud.
People were watching him, waiting to see how he would answer.
The young man in the lead smiled slightly, not finding it troublesome at all. "That's why we need to prevent those foreign businessmen from leaving so easily, because of the resources, wealth, and industries they possess!"
"Young friends, we must take back what belongs to the Nagaril People, and then with these things, we will fight against the Federal!"
"When we control the factories, goods, and shops, we will have the power to fight against the Federal."
"As long as we can unite, I believe those Federal people are no match for us. If all the Nagaril People unite, expelling these foreigners is not just a dream!"
His resolute statement actually reflects the core ideas that originated from the headquarters of the Youth Party. Their plan was to seize the assets and wealth of these foreign businessmen through various means, and then use their existing power to counter the power of the Federal businessmen.
Once the Youth Party took control of these foreign businessmen's assets, coupled with their appeal and their special local attributes, the young leaders believed they would soon gain an absolute advantage in competing with foreigners.
This idea quickly spread to various Youth Party branches in Nagaril, and this argument provided a more necessary theoretical basis for their subsequent actions.
They need to use the assets of these foreigners who have been plundering Nagaril for years to fight against the new Federal people, and all of this is for the purpose of self-reliance and independence. Everything that happens in the process of achieving this great goal is permissible.
It includes violence, conspiracy, conflict, and even killing! A flame burns within people's hearts, like the campfire before them, constantly raging, yet unable to illuminate the entire sky. But one day, this flame will burn the entire forest, and then, even in the darkest hour, the sky will be lit by its light! "So, leader, what do you intend to do?"
How can we help you?
Seeing these energetic people with the same goals and hopes gathered together, the young leader breathed a sigh of relief. As long as the young people's determination to never give up and never bow down remains, there is still hope for Nagaril.
His expression softened a bit. "You just need to refine that gold and convert it into cash as soon as possible. As for these other things..." He paused for a moment, then decided to express his thoughts and what he needed to do.
Since we've all come together for the same ideal, there shouldn't be any more deception between us. "I'll contact the children of those foreign businessmen. After all, they were born and raised here as Nagaril People. Perhaps they'll understand!"
"I know some of you feel they aren't one of us, but please believe me, I will convince them!"
Not far from this campsite, in the city center, another young man was sitting on the lawn in the courtyard.
The emerald green grass wasn't the deep blue that nature should have at this time of year; instead, it was a tender green, a tenacious and vigorous vitality that infected everything around it with its tender green color.
He hugged his knees, gazing at the sky, but even the countless stars couldn't bring a smile to his face.
The thought of his father's attitude towards him and his mother, and what he had done these past few days, made his heart grow even colder.
He is no longer the little child he once was, who would interpret his father's dissatisfaction as a sign that he was not good enough. He has actually grown up and has long known that his and his mother's existence is nothing more than a disguise by his father.
He wished he could be a little stupid, but he didn't seem to be that stupid.
