Job Application Experience and Self-Questioning
Working is a new experience for the Nagaril People. About half of the people living here have never had a formal job; they have only done odd jobs or similar work.
They had never been involved in work systematically before, so everything was new to them.
The short leader, accompanied by an officer, arrived at a job fair to apply for a position, something new for them as well.
"How many people?" Just as they were inquiring about the job location, a young man walked up to them and asked, "How many of you are here to apply for the job?"
The short young man paused for a moment. Considering that he might have exchanges with his subordinates in the future, and that such exchanges would be difficult to conceal, he simply said, "There are two of us."
The young man standing outside the line handed them two forms and a pencil. "If you can read the words on them, fill them out yourself. If you can't, go over there. Someone will tell you how to fill them out..."
He pointed to a table not far away that was already surrounded by many people. A considerable number of Nagaril People are illiterate, especially in the lower classes. Almost the vast majority of them have not received a formal education, and the literacy rate is generally very low.
It was indeed difficult for them to fill out the job application form, but fortunately, after consulting with Lin Qi, Asier quickly changed the content of the form. The only thing people needed to write was their own name, and the rest were either √ or ×. Finally, they had to write their handprints with all ten fingers.
This was also proposed by Lin Qi. He didn't understand Nagaril, but he had a clear understanding of certain things and human nature.
If the gains from losing a finger exceed their perceived value of the finger, they will not hesitate to cut it off in exchange for greater benefits.
Even if they have a contract or form with their fingerprint on it, it won't be of any use because they are missing a finger, and no one can prove that the fingerprint on the form belongs to one of them.
This could even become a "routine," with some people, under the control of those with ulterior motives, choosing to make a fortune by losing a finger. This would undoubtedly cast a shadow over the image of Federal merchants, and perhaps in the future, people would use "finger merchants" instead of their name when talking about Federal merchants.
Therefore, from the very beginning, Lin Qi did not give them many opportunities.
If they think the deal is worthwhile—trading their ten fingers and their future for a potentially modest return—then Lin Qi wouldn't object. At least he would only lose some money, while these people would lose their entire lives.
"... After you fill out this form, you can go to the large room over there for a physical examination. If you don't have any diseases or infectious diseases, they will give you a small tag. With the tag and this form, you can go for the actual interview."
"If you don't understand anything, you can ask someone wearing clothes like mine!" The young man pinched the front of his shirt and shook it. He didn't recognize the words on it, but that didn't stop him from being proud of them.
The short young man thanked him for his help and then studied the form with his colleague. In fact, there wasn't much information on it; it was just a simple inquiry about the applicant's personal and family circumstances.
For example, education level, number of family members, and marital status.
After studying the forms for a while and filling them out, the two were checked by the staff and then went to the physical examination area next door.
As soon as they entered the experience hall, the smell of disinfectant made the two of them sneeze.
"You, come over here..." A doctor impatiently pointed to the short man, then pointed to the chair in front of him.
The latter hesitated for a moment, but still came over and sat down.
The doctor took the form from his hand and said without looking up, "Take off all your clothes, top and bottom."
"You've... all taken off?" The young man who was taking off his shirt paused for a moment. He looked around and behind him. There were quite a few people here. Only a pervert would get excited about taking off his clothes in front of others. He was not a pervert.
The doctor's tone remained impatient. "You think I enjoy looking at you?" He glanced up at the short young man. "Akumali, if you don't want to take off your clothes, you can leave with the form. You should know that if you went to the hospital for a medical check-up, you would have to pay at least 450 Galil for the same procedure, but these are all free now."
"The generous Mr. Lin Qi waived the medical examination fees for you Lowly People, yet you're shy about taking off your clothes. Are you even a woman?"
Before the short young man could even speak, the cadre behind him shouted angrily, "Are you trying to humiliate him?"
The former immediately stood up and stood between the two. He noticed that the security guard at the door seemed to be walking this way. After reassuring the cadre for a few words, he readily took off his clothes, saying, "If you're not afraid to see, why should I be afraid to take them off?"
The doctor, who had been somewhat arrogant, paused for a moment after hearing this, then couldn't help but laugh. "That's very true. I don't like watching it, but I can't do anything about it. I feel like I'm the one who should be humiliated."
He picked up the stethoscope and began to examine the short young man's body very meticulously.
Although these people do not need to pay for the medical examination, Lin Qi will make up the difference for the doctor's share.
Don't expect others to automatically protect your interests unless they also have a share in those interests.
The doctor's examination was so thorough that he even checked the small tools young men use to reproduce. Nagaril People don't like to bathe and spend their days surrounded by garbage, so many of them actually have reproductive system diseases. Such people are also refused to become company employees.
We'll probably be eating together all the time in the future. If the infection spreads, it won't be a simple problem for just one or two people; it could potentially infect all the employees in the company.
After examining the soles of the short young man's feet, the doctor wiped his hands with disinfectant from the Federal. "You can 《Putting on Clothes》 now..." he said, pausing for a moment, "What clan are you from? You're much cleaner than the others!"
Only people from clans pay attention to their personal hygiene. The short young man smiled and shook his head without saying anything.
The doctor simply treated him as a member of a fallen clan, so destitute that even his name was no different from that of an ordinary person. He wrote down the results of the medical examination on the young man's form, gave him a health certificate, and pointed to another door, saying, "Go out from here, and then you can choose a job that you want."
Perhaps because he thought the young man was likely a fallen nobleman, he offered a few more words of advice. "Manual labor is simple, and the current salary may be slightly higher, but future development is limited. Choose a job with good prospects and related to technology. That's my advice to you!"
The short young man, whom the doctor called Akumali, expressed his gratitude and left with his belongings. Not long after, his subordinates arrived.
The two passed through a door and arrived at another area, which resembled a large square. At a glance, there were roughly twenty or thirty different recruitment agencies in the square, each surrounded by a large crowd of people.
Seeing this scene, the short young man seemed somewhat emotional. Just from the physical examination, he felt a sense of absurdity, as if it were true what the poster said: as long as you work hard, things will definitely change.
The two of them looked through almost every job posting, and ultimately chose to become drivers.
This is not actually a "good job," because becoming a driver requires learning various traffic knowledge and car driving skills, and even basic repair skills. This is the least desirable profession for Nagaril People, whose average level of education is not high, so there are relatively few people like this here.
However, the young man had his own considerations. If the struggle became more intense in the future, he would definitely need the convenient mode of transportation like cars. By learning here, he could systematically pass on his driving skills to others in the organization.
The two placed the forms here and stood around. Quite a few people chose to become drivers. While everyone was chatting, the recruitment staff came over and read out some information they needed to know.
Strictly speaking, they didn't start working immediately. Learning driving skills was more like receiving training first, and then being assigned to work. So everyone had some questions they wanted to ask, even though they had already made their decisions.
"I'd like to ask when I can expect to receive my salary?"
Someone raised a question that everyone was concerned about, and the staff answered in detail and patiently, "It will be after you have learned how to drive. But before that, you have three months. We will arrange accommodation and free food for you."
"If you still can't master driving skills after three months, you'll have to leave and try to find another job."
"If you can master driving skills, you will be offered a job immediately, and the salary will not be low."
"Initially, your wages will be paid daily, with a minimum of 150 Galil, and this will increase later."
"The longer you work here, the higher your salary will be. In the end, you might even be able to earn five or six hundred Galil a day!"
"As long as you work hard and put in the effort, a happy life is just around the corner!"
The person who raised the question, and everyone else, cheered. A daily wage of five or six hundred Galil, though "possible," was more motivating than any other nice words.
They might not earn ten Galil a day now, but with training, they could earn at least one hundred and fifty Galil. In just one week, they could earn one thousand Galil, a figure that many families earn in a month! Even the short young man was momentarily stunned.
If everything were really that wonderful, would people still hate foreigners?
He was somewhat bewildered. All they were doing was to make people's lives better, but now someone was doing that.
Is there any need for the Youth Party, with its so-called awakening, to still exist?
Is there still a market...?
