Bank's Claws
Lin Qi's original idea was to speed things up and acquire those factories.
Many people consider these factories a burden, but Lin Qi doesn't see them as such. On the contrary, he has found a way to make money from them.
Sometimes, even capitalists... no, not even the most sophisticated capitalists are as adept at this "money for money" game Master Lin. Only those in his field can understand how to use one hundred dollars to satisfy the desire and longing of many others to have one hundred dollars.
Although he couldn't visit those factories and businesses in person during this period, he could conduct preliminary investigations.
In the morning, after saying goodbye to Vera Lin Qi went directly to the Sabine City branch of the Gold Exchange Company. This was a city-level directly affiliated bank, not a branch on any street.
The bank president personally received Lin Qi. Lin Qi is now a major client of Jinhui Bank, and his rank within the bank has been raised to the third tier, second only to the main members of the Board of Directors.
Even the branch manager, whose rank within the bank was lower than Lin Qi's, took the initiative to greet him outside the bank.
As Lin Qi's convoy slowly pulled up to the side of the road, and the bank president, shivering in the cold wind, personally opened the car door for him, and as the surprised, even envious and jealous, gazes of passersby and bank employees focused on him, Lin Qi seemed to hear the thoughts in their hearts.
"Being rich is fucking great!"
"I didn't know you would come to pick me up in person, otherwise I definitely wouldn't have made this call."
As Lin Qi got out of the car, he took off his gloves, revealing his soft, fair, and rosy right hand. The bank manager then shook his hand as he reached out.
Perhaps not wanting his cold, stiff hands to give Lin Qi an unpleasant experience, he proactively let go of her hand. The smile on his face completely concealed the fact that he was almost frozen stiff. His face was red with a bluish tinge, the bluish tinge from the cold. "This is what I should do. Both the state branch and the head office have issued documents to thank Mr. Lin Qi for your assistance to Jin Hui in Nagaril."
Lin Qi was not the only senior executive at the United Development Company to side with Gold Exchange on the Nagaril issue, but the bank could not downplay the matter just because he was not the only one; that would offend people.
So internally, they not only promoted Lin Qi's rank, but also actually issued a document. On the one hand, it told everyone that Gold Exchange had already established itself in Nagaril and that its business volume had increased unprecedentedly, making some people who had the opportunity to go but hesitated regret it. On the other hand, it also mentioned the help that people like Lin Qi had given to the bank.
To have lived up to this standard is to have surpassed many others.
"Let's go inside and talk, it's too cold outside," Lin Qi patted his arm, and the bank manager immediately agreed.
The two walked into the bank side by side. The moment Lin Qi stepped into the bank, almost every staff member in his line of sight stopped what they were doing and stood up to look at him.
This also caused some people who were conducting business at the bank to stand up in a daze, wondering if they should also bow like the bank staff when those people passed by.
Fortunately, this matter did not bother everyone for too long. The bank manager took Lin Qi directly into the manager's private elevator and went upstairs. Bank branches and state branches in various places have always learned from the leaders in some aspects, such as some elevators that are not usually used by ordinary people.
After entering the warm room, the bank manager seemed to have improved considerably, and his complexion returned to normal. He personally brought Lin Qi a cup of coffee and then sat down next to Lin Qi. "Mr. Lin Qi, is there anything Jin Hui can do for you?"
He didn't use "I" or "Sabine City Branch," but directly used the name "Golden Exchange," because he and the regional branch couldn't represent the attitude of the entire bank.
Lin Qi stated the purpose of his trip very directly. "I hope to review the financial and debt information of some companies..."
The bank president was taken aback. A company's operating conditions, debt situation, asset situation, and other information related to whether the company has money or not, will be filed by three institutions at the same time.
The first is banks. Businesses cannot do without the support of banks, whether it's deposits, remittances, or other financial-related businesses.
The second agency is the Revenue Service. No one knows better than them how many accounts a company has, how much money is in those accounts, how much debt it has, and the nature of each transaction.
The third type of agency is the local Social Services Bureau Social Services Bureau, which is responsible for the registration and continued operation information of enterprises, including some, but not much, operational information.
This information is not proactively disclosed to the public, nor is it available for individual access. After all, it involves many highly confidential corporate matters. There are also relevant Federal laws supporting the three agencies in keeping this information confidential until necessary, and with the consent of the parties involved, it may be disclosed to the public to a limited extent.
To be honest, this was the first time the bank president had ever encountered someone as blatant as Lin Qi, who wanted to investigate the funds and debts of these companies. He had never even heard of such a thing before.
"This doesn't seem to be in accordance with the rules..." the bank manager explained with a wry smile. "The bank has regulations that these are non-public information that requires an administrative order from higher authorities. It can't be approved in a short time, and we also need to notify the heads of those companies."
Lin Qi didn't seem to care. "You can make a call and ask, but believe me, it's better to show me those documents than to make that call."
The bank manager hesitated. He understood Lin Qi's words. He felt that he had reported some irregularities, but what about the higher-ups? Not everyone in the state branch had the authority to make decisions. They would also have to report to their superiors. In the end, they would be bogged down in a lot of trouble over something that had nothing to do with them. If they succeeded, they wouldn't get any credit, and they might even be seen as inflexible by their superiors.
If things go wrong, the first person to report this matter might be resented by Lin Qi, or be considered incompetent by the bank manager. So reporting this matter is not good, and not reporting it is not good either. Lin Qi's words put the bank manager in a dilemma.
"They're just some insignificant companies. Once I acquire them, they'll be mine. I'll check my own company's finances and debts beforehand. There shouldn't be any problems, right?"
Lin Qi's words and attitude were not aggressive; rather, they seemed to be discussing things. However, the bank president could sense a firmness behind this seemingly gentle demeanor.
He was thinking, and Lin Qi didn't disturb him. After about half a minute, he sighed, "I hope Mr. Lin Qi won't tell anyone else about this. It really isn't in accordance with the rules!"
The repeated emphasis on something that doesn't conform to the rules doesn't mean it actually violates anyone's principles, but rather that the bank president is emphasizing his role after making a decision.
Lin Qi nodded slightly. "I know that someone else might not understand what I'm saying, but anyway, thank you for your cooperation..."
Before long, the bank manager personally retrieved some documents for Lin Qi. These were the company files that Lin Qi had requested, which recorded the companies' deposits in the bank's corporate accounts, the flow of funds, whether they had any debts, and whether they had any collateral.
If they have taken out a loan from a bank, the larger the loan amount, the more detailed the information will be. Banks will never put themselves in a dangerous position. When they assess that a company's current situation may prevent it from repaying the loan, they will file a lawsuit in court before the company suffers further losses and is unable to repay the loan, demanding that the company repay the debt in advance.
This is actually very inconsistent with the loan agreement. Why should someone return the money to the bank before the due date? Most people probably think this way, but banks also have their own ways of doing things.
During the loan process, banks will ask companies some basic questions, which will be recorded in their documents or even contracts. One of these questions is, "If the bank approves your loan, where do you intend to use the money?"
Most people would say, "I will use it to buy raw materials/buy new machinery/build new production lines..." and so on. At this point, these answers become the simplest reason for banks to collect debts—you did not use the money the bank lent you for the purposes you stated to the bank, you violated the contract first, so the bank has the reason and the right to collect the debt in advance.
Isn't that infuriating? What's even more infuriating is that if a company files a protest and a counterclaim, the bank will only ask one question that leaves people speechless—how can you prove that your consumption outside the scope of the loan contract is not part of the loan? This is enough to give many people a headache.
It would be very easy for them to prove this: we are the bank, and we know whether you are using borrowed money or your own money.
That's why Lin Qi came to the bank to check this information, rather than the Revenue Service or the Social Services Bureau.
"Thank you very much for your understanding and help..." Lin Qi expressed his gratitude and then focused his attention on the documents.
These companies are all small manufacturers of daily necessities, such as basins, buckets, pots and pans, which are closely related to people's lives.
These factories have complete production lines and skilled workers. Their warehouses are even filled with large quantities of leftover stock and mountains of raw materials. Combined with their production lines, the value of these items far exceeds the market value of these companies, making this a good time to acquire them.
However, acquiring these companies will require some waiting. We need to create an opportunity for Ferral while minimizing potential problems during the acquisition process, such as someone being unwilling to sell or requiring a revaluation of the shares.
Lin Qi carefully selected seven or eight suitable companies and presented them separately. The bank manager also glanced through them and noticed that these companies all had a certain amount of loans...
