Sitting in Lin Qi's villa, Akumali watched as the fire in the fireplace provided some warmth to the room. Although he did not understand how such a tiny flame could warm an entire hall so thoroughly.

But none of that mattered. What mattered was that he was thinking about how to answer Lin Qi's question. He had a feeling that this question-and-answer session would change him, and might even change Nagaril's future.

He had no choice but to take it seriously and devote himself to the question wholeheartedly.

After thinking for a long while, he slowly answered with one word: "Spirit!"

After voicing the answer he held in his heart, he looked at Lin Qi.

Lin Qi pondered for a moment, then nodded. "Go on."

Akumali took a deep breath and began explaining his view. "After coming to the Federation, I discovered that the greatest difference between here and Nagaril lies in the spirit of the people."

"I don't know how to accurately describe what I feel inside, Mr. Lin Qi. Everyone here loves life. Perhaps to you, that's nothing unusual."

"But to me, and to the Nagaril People, it's something very rare!"

"The oppression imposed by the rotten Ruling Class made us numb. We would rather slowly rot in filthy water than stand up and rely on our own efforts and labor to earn the means to survive."

"We don't love life. We remain alive only because our fear of death is greater than our fear of continuing to live. We are tragic!"
