Margur Incident (II)
Inside the carriage, Misha trembled with fear, but she still mustered her courage and quietly lifted the curtain to check what was happening outside.
On this chaotic battlefield, the acrid Gunsmoke of gunpowder filled the air. Soldiers from both countries fought and grappled with each other, their lives constantly slipping away, as worthless as blades of grass.
However, the scene that plunged her into despair unfolded right before her eyes.
Old John stood trembling in place, holding a spear; he had never experienced such a terrible battle.
Behind him were soldiers with ferocious expressions, their eyes bloodshot with rage.
"Old John— "
Misha anxiously peeked out, trying to warn old John, but it was too late.
"Sizzle—"
A blood-stained spear pierced through his chest, and crimson blood gushed from Old John's chest.
In his final moments, old John did not look at the enemy who had ended his life, but slowly turned his head to look at the carriage where Misha was, and tried his best to put his finger to his lips as a gesture of "shushing".
"No"
Misha couldn't help but scream, her eyes reddening.
But she quickly realized that doing so risked exposure, so she forcibly covered her mouth, trembling and curled up in the carriage, letting tears stream down her face.
However, Old John's death was a trivial matter on the battlefield, and not even a big deal for either side of the war.
However, the situation on the battlefield was becoming increasingly clear. Surrounded by thousands of armored cavalry, fewer and fewer Hobgoblin soldiers were still able to stand up. Without a complete army, they could no longer withstand the cavalry's repeated charges.
Surrounded by enemies nearly ten times their number, even with advantages in equipment and soldier quality, the kingdom's guards were powerless to turn the tide.
Hart's guards were all killed, and he was now surrounded by nearly a hundred soldiers.
He was covered in blood, letting out heart-wrenching roars, like a wild beast trapped by hunters.
"Die, all of you!"
"You lowly humans!"
"I am a noble Dragon Blood Noble, Earl of the Embers of the Burned Kingdom!"
Hart's eyes were bloodshot, the scales on his face were slightly open, and white smoke was billowing from his body.
"You damned Evil Dragon Claws! Attack! Avenge our people!"
The knight commander let out an angry shout.
Several soldiers behind Hart Ground Spike out their spears, but they were blocked by the hard scales on Hart's back, as if they had struck steel.
"Hahaha, it's useless!"
"This is the power His Majesty has bestowed upon me!"
He laughed maniacally, tearing apart the soldiers in front of him with his sharp claws and biting off the arm of another soldier.
He was like a killing machine, ruthlessly reaping the lives of his soldiers.
"Roar--"
With a powerful dragon roar, Hart trembled violently.
His face was ferocious as he spat out bursts of blazing flames, turning the surrounding area into a sea of fire. Even the bravest soldiers retreated in panic, fearing they would be engulfed by the raging flames.
Hart single-handedly killed hundreds of elite soldiers, while the Hobgoblin soldiers had all perished, leaving him to fight on alone.
The knight commander, his eyes bloodshot, shouted, "He must be killed! Avenge our comrades!"
Finally, several robed mages extended their staffs together. As a strange, cold wind descended, Hart's movements became increasingly sluggish, and his face gradually turned frost-covered.
Immediately afterwards, several soldiers rushed forward, and several spears pierced Hart's still warm heart at the same time.
Thus, Earl Dragonblood of the Embers of the Burned Kingdom and leader of the Free Trade Caravan, Hart, died, marking the complete end of the battle and the destruction of this powerful caravan.
At the top of this hillside.
Grand Duke Leo, clad in armor, rode a tall black warhorse, looking down at the devastated battlefield filled with Gunsmoke. There was no joy of victory in his eyes.
"Your Grace, the enemy has been completely wiped out, with a total of 275 dead."
With the sound of rapid hoofbeats, the knight commander, who had just retreated from the front lines, rushed over to report.
Grand Duke Leo frowned slightly and asked, "What about our losses?"
The knight commander hesitated for a moment, then said, "Our side suffered a total of 1,234 casualties."
Grand Duke Leo's expression was grave, and he couldn't help but sigh, "This is merely a caravan's guard, not even worthy of being called the Embers of the Burned Kingdom's regular army. And yet, they managed to achieve such a high casualty ratio while completely unprepared and surrounded."
"What a terrifying army."
Trischka, standing beside him, added, "And they're getting stronger, and this is the best opportunity we can find now."
"If we let them develop for another ten years, the consequences will be unimaginable."
Grand Duke Leo calmly said, "Things have come to this point, and we have no way out. The all-out war between the the North and the Embers of the Burned Kingdom is about to begin. Justice and evil must be decided, and we—will surely be the ultimate victors."
Trischka looked up at the sky, his eyes revealing confusion and uncertainty about the future, but he still said, "It will happen, His Highness the Duke will."
The caravan wagons were still burning fiercely. During the war, Hart ordered all the goods to be burned, determined not to let the enemy gain any advantage. But Bosque's mages had already begun to put out the fire.
However, no one noticed that in this chaotic battlefield filled with Gunsmoke, a petite and thin girl was slowly moving among the piles of corpses, quietly escaping this terrible Hell.
"Old John."
Hidden in the shadows by the rocks, Misha wiped away her tears, gritted her teeth, and her eyes were filled with hatred.
The girl gripped the old leather whip tightly in her hand—it was the one she had risked her life to retrieve from old John's corpse, and it was the last memento he had left for himself; everything else he had had been burned to ashes by Bosque's soldiers.
"I will definitely avenge you."
That's what she thought.
A few days later, news of the Bosque Duchy's attack on the "Free Trade Caravan" spread throughout the the North, causing widespread panic among the people. However, the situation soon developed in ways that exceeded their expectations.
The Bosque Duchy officially referred to this event as the "Magur Battle" and heavily publicized the victory, calling it the beginning of the demise of evil.
Following this, the Bosque Duchy, together with the Carter Duchy, the Fano Duchy, and other the North nations, issued the "《Strasbourg Agreement》," announcing the establishment of the "Anti-Red Dragon Alliance" to the entire Anzeta Great Wasteland and formally declaring war on the Embers of the Burned Kingdom.
Anzeta was immediately in an uproar, and the atmosphere in various places became tense.
Almost everyone knows—
The sky over the Anzeta Great Wasteland is about to change.
