Royal Authority
"Prepare for three rounds of artillery fire!"
The Overlord shouted with high spirits.
More than a dozen Magic Heavy Cannon were arrayed on the battlefield, their dark muzzles pointing straight to the sky.
Before them stood the city walls, riddled with holes and littered with ruins, and the terrified garrison and disheveled knights.
—This is Cyril City, a major military stronghold of the Otto Duchy and the second most populous city in the country, yet it is filled with the smell of Gunsmoke everywhere.
Feng Yun waved his hand and said from the side, "President, let's stop for now. We need to keep more prisoners. Recently, our factories are facing a labor shortage."
"This kind of work is better done by the natives. Hired players are too expensive and don't follow orders. The new players these days are too shrewd. They won't come unless we raise the wages."
The Overlord lowered his head and pondered for a moment, then said, "What you said makes sense."
"Then let the spellcasters and melee fighters get ready. Oh, and tell those Wyvern Knight to hold back, don't burn too many of them."
"Yes, Chairman."
Today, [Royal Authority] is a large guild with nearly a thousand members, a renowned and powerful clan. Almost all of its members are professionals of level five or above, and in addition, they are all talents with outstanding special skills.
In order to compete for this "Conquer the Northern Lands" mission, the Overlord urgently mobilized nearly 600 members, bringing almost everyone except those in the essential logistics departments to the battlefield.
This rather large group of professionals has conquered thirteen cities in succession, and the ordinary the North City Defense Army are no match for their overwhelming advance.
Aside from exceptional Lionheart Knight Order, even the most elite armies in the the North have soldiers whose average strength is roughly equivalent to a Level 1 professional. A Level 5 professional is already qualified to be a noble knight, or even a general, in any unit in the the North.
The strength of an organized force composed of players of this caliber is evident.
"The mage casts a Mass Inspiration Spell, Bard casts a Faerie Fire on the enemy."
"Fighter, activate your shields and charge forward! Remember everyone, don't kill those who surrender. The guild will distribute Gold Coin based on the number of prisoners. There's an extra reward for capturing the Earl alive!"
Feng Yun shouted across the battlefield with a megaphone.
"For the Royal Authority!"
"Glory and Royal Authority, heroes never die!"
Two hundred players charged toward the distant city in a mighty procession. Melee classes such as Fighter and Paladin charged forward with unrestrained ferocity, while spellcasters such as mages and Sorcerer created dazzling and wondrous magical effects.
Druid summon all sorts of wild beasts, Bard cast spells by playing music.
For a moment, various magical lights shone brightly under the city wall.
Burning arrows, splashing acid, falling stones, and even flying squirrels came one after another towards the city wall.
The commander on the city wall roared, "Fear not, kill them! Fight for the Otto Duchy, defend the city behind us!"
"They are only made of flesh and blood!"
"Without those strange weapons, they might not be able to defeat us!"
"Load the heavy crossbow!"
As a key military stronghold, the city walls were equipped with several heavy crossbows designed to defend against Frost Giant and White Dragon, but now the soldiers were using them to deal with these Starfallers.
"Fairy Fire!"
The Bard played music, and the strings of their violins emitted a violet light that outlined all the enemies.
Several high-ranking mages from the Kingship Guild also raised their staffs in unison.
"Slow Spell!"
In an instant, the space on the city wall was distorted, and the soldiers' movements became incredibly slow, as if they were in slow motion.
A Dragonkin Paladin, empowered with Flight Spell and Haste Spell, leaped onto the city wall, swung his sword, which glowed with crimson flames, and beheaded the commander who had opened his mouth in fury.
The soldiers watched in horror as their commander was killed, but were powerless to do anything about it because of the slow-moving space they were in.
Surrender and you will not be killed!
The Dragonkin Paladin, holding the still-warm head, stood atop the city wall and shouted.
The soldiers looked up at the figures rushing forward with faces full of despair. They knew the war was about to end—it was all over.
Soon, members of the Kingship Guild conquered the entire city, easily occupying important locations such as the City Hall and the Armory.
The city's lord Earl Jules Reginald, with his belongings, fled south early in the morning with a caravan of over a hundred people.
However, there are several Red Scale Conqueror within the Royal Authority, and no matter how fast a four-legged steed runs, it cannot keep up with the speed of a two-winged bird.
The Earl and his caravan were quickly discovered and wiped out by the Wyvern Knight. Earl Jules was captured alive and held in the air by Wyvern, howling in agony.
"Behave yourself and don't move."
"Or I'll kill you."
Da Dao rode Wyvern and landed on the ground, lifting Earl count up with one hand.
Earl Jules immediately became obedient, though his obese body was still trembling instinctively.
It is said that these Evil Dragon Kin "kill nobles without blinking an eye," and dare to cut off the heads of marquises at will, but spared the life of this Earl.
Could it be that they have finally realized that they cannot maintain a stable rule over the the North without nobles, and now want to seek cooperation with me?
A hint of relief flashed in Earl Jules ' eyes.
"Arrive."
"President, I've brought him here."
He casually tossed the Da Dao to the ground.
"You ill-mannered bastard, once I get back to my former status, I'll kill you first."
Earl Jules thought viciously to himself, his eyes involuntarily turning sinister.
He struggled to his feet and saw a tall, imposing man not far away, carrying a giant sword and wearing heavy, exquisite armor.
Upon seeing him, the man's face lit up with joy.
"He must be the leader of this Evil Dragon Kin."
"Now my life and fortune are all in his hands. In order to further cooperate, I should try my best to please him."
Thinking of this, Earl Jules' face was filled with a fawning smile.
"My esteemed sir, I am Jules Regina—"
"Whoosh—"
Before he finished speaking, the Overlord swung his greatsword and slashed at the Earl.
Instantly, brain matter splattered everywhere, the thick, fatty skin was cut open, and various internal organs and intestines spilled out in a muddled mess, scattering all over the ground.
On his deathbed, Earl Jules still wore a fawning smile, but his eyes revealed astonishment and disbelief.
He never figured it out until he died.
The man in front of me sent people all the way here to capture me, just to kill me with his own hands. This is simply incomprehensible!
The Overlord wiped his greatsword, looking at the mess on the ground with some disdain.
"Next time, just behead them."
"This is disgusting. Clean this up."
He casually gave instructions to his subordinates, then looked at his own control panel and his face lit up with joy once again.
[You have killed Earl Jules Reginald, an important figure in the Northern United Kingdom faction, and gained 120 faction Reputation Points.] Their entire guild did everything in their power to accumulate Reputation Points for him in order to obtain the qualification of Dragon Blood Noble.
Feng Yun smiled and said, "Guild Master, at this rate, by the time the mission is over, you should at least reach the Reputation Points requirement for a Viscount, and maybe even reach the rank of Earl."
"Haha, let's continue our attack on the next city! Who will write history for ten thousand years? Eight thousand miles away, we aspire to be ennobled!"
The Overlord spread his arms wide and laughed heartily.
Feng Yun wiped the sweat from his brow and muttered to himself, "The whole guild is supporting you to grind reputation all by yourself. Where does all this ambition come from?"
