Magic Coin's Adventure
Beyond the battles within Bator City, players have even expanded into other areas of the Anzeta Great Wasteland. Some players are planning to head to the headquarters of the Ember Nest, the most dangerous and richest place in the eyes of adventurers— Dragon Valley.
Over the past five years, a rudimentary road has been built between Dragon Valley and Bator City, which the Goblin call the "Bumpy Road," to facilitate the journey of monster minions to provide support.
On this Bumpy Road, a group of players are moving forward.
They all came from the later renowned magic-based guild, [Magic Coin], but at this time it was just an unknown small guild with only about twenty members. The guild leader was [Charlotte], one of the few remaining mage players.
In this version where Magic Scroll are unavailable, mages are rendered useless due to their ridiculous meter-reading requirements, while Sorcerer have taken up the mantle of magic-based classes and are known as the "true magic masters."
Even within the [Magic Coin] guild, very few people persisted in the mage class; most switched to Sorcerer.
Five players arrived at this time, all of whom were guild elites at level three.
"Guild Master, are you sure we can get spells here?"
A female player with the ID "Flying Witch" asked.
She is a Wild Sorcerer, Sorcerer subclass known for being one of the easiest to let down her teammates. Wild Sorcerer ' innate magic comes from the wild Chaos Power lurking beneath the order of creation, and their spells often unleash untamed waves of magic.
Charlotte looked at the simple parchment map in her hand, pointed to the crooked skull icon, and said, "This is it, the Tower of the Great Wise One."
"This map is something I got after spending eight Gold Coin to Ogre overseers and have them eat all the tavern's stock. It shouldn't be wrong; they seem pretty honest and kind to me."
The vice president, Ming Yue, standing to the side, was somewhat uneasy. "But I heard those Ogre say when they were drunk that their leader was also an Ogre. Are you sure these big Ogre can be mages?"
Charlotte recalled the grotesque sight of those Ogre lying on the ground drinking and shouting "Meat! Meat! Meat!" and her lips twitched slightly. "It should be okay, right?"
He wasn't very confident either. He had come to Dragon Valley prepared to return empty-handed. Anyway, eight Gold Coin would be easy for the whole guild to come up with.
"At least we have to give it a try."
"It is our inescapable duty to restore the glory of the Dharma Masters!"
Charlotte's eyes were filled with determination; she was the mage player's last hope.
"President!"
The Ming Yue was deeply moved.
[Magic Coin] is a guild composed of mage enthusiasts. Although most of them have now switched to Sorcerer, they still have a deep-seated faith in mages.
Soon, the group from [Magic Coin] could see the outline of the Stone Fortress in the distance.
"Holy crap, it's huge?"
"This fortress is quite magnificent."
Wyvern roared in the sky, Hobgoblin patrolled back and forth outside the city walls, and menacing roars echoed from within the fortress—the army of the Ember Nest was drilling.
After observing for a while, Charlotte concluded. "This fortress should not be accessible from the front. The authorities probably won't let us obtain the spells so easily."
"I think they discriminate against mage players."
"Yes, I think so too."
The Flying Witch was seething with hatred.
At this moment, Ming Yue keenly noticed a huge rock on a hillside not far from the fortress, behind which seemed to be a passage. So he pointed in that direction:
"Captain, we can hide there and then sneak in."
"Good idea."
Charlotte praised.
So, the five players with the [Magic Coin] sneaked behind the giant rock.
However, they were unaware that they had made the mistake that all adventurers make. This rock had witnessed the deaths of countless adventurers, and they would become the next example.
"Click".
As soon as Ming Yue stepped in, she felt something was wrong.
"Wait! Don't come any closer!"
The complex and intricate magic array beneath his feet suddenly lit up, a surging wave of magical power rose up, and flames were instantly reflected in Ming Yue's eyes.
"Holy crap."
"Boom--"
With the sound of flames burning the air, Ming Yue was engulfed by the raging fire of the Guardian Inscriptions's rune explosion, turning into a charred corpse and giving up his precious first blood.
Although Charlotte did not step into the magic circle's range, his face was still blackened by the smoke.
"There's an ambush, everyone be careful!"
"Ming Yue is dead, we can't afford to lose any more."
He noticed a spell in the corner besides the Guardian Inscriptions, but he couldn't figure out its function.
However, the Hobgoblin guards on the Stone Fortress had already noticed the commotion. They approached with practiced ease, even chatting amongst themselves, "Another stupid adventurer has fallen into a trap," "Guess how many there are," and "How many will die this time?"
Charlotte watched the approaching Hobgoblin guards and said to the group, "No, we have to go, or we might all be wiped out here."
"Everyone, go through this passage. Someone cast Mage Armor on me; I'm temporarily unable to defend myself," Charlotte commanded.
The Flying Witch quickly replied, "Oh, okay."
"Mage Armor!"
A magical light emanated from her hands as she reached out and touched Charlotte's body.
However, the surrounding magical energy suddenly became chaotic and surged wildly.
[Your spellcasting creates an untamed Wild Magic Surge, producing unknown magical effects!] "Bang!"
A loud explosion was heard.
Charlotte was transformed into a docile and obedient sheep by a random spell generated by the Wild Magic Surge effect.
"Meow~~"
Charlotte, transformed into a sheep, bleated, and even through that bleating, one could hear the unbearable sorrow in her heart.
"Ah, sorry, I triggered a surge of waves..."
The Flying Witch quickly bowed to the sheep to apologize, but when she saw the president's adorable appearance, she couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Forget it, let's retreat first."
"If we stay here, the losses will be even greater."
A teammate nearby reminded him.
"Meow~~"
Charlotte let out a sheep-like bleat in agreement.
So the Flying Witch and the remaining two team members quickly crawled into the passage, preparing to escape through it.
"There are still some!"
What is this?
However, some of them triggered the Web Spell and got stuck in the sticky web that shot out.
"Gibberish—"
Huge rocks rolled down from the end of the passage, mercilessly crushing the trapped people.
"Meow..."
Charlotte, now a sheep, let out a desperate bleat.
"The authorities are definitely targeting us. They're so ruthless. How could there be a trap here?!"
He roared silently in his heart.
