Ivette deeply regretted Lucia's refusal.
Though this reaction had been expected, after leaving the training ground, Ivette followed Lucia toward the village's central square. Along the way, Lucia filled her in on quite a bit of common knowledge that an ordinary villager in this other world would possess.
And naturally, Ivette's absurdly beautiful face attracted no small number of stares.
"Hey, are you the amnesiac girl who entered the village the day before yesterday?" As they passed the inn tavern, a young man came out from inside and greeted Ivette with a grin. "Hello."
He looked seventeen or eighteen, dressed in ordinary dark gray linen clothes. Two more young men stood inside the tavern on the inn's first floor, wearing teasing expressions. Clearly, they had just shoved their companion out.
Before Ivette could speak, Lucia's face darkened with anger. She glared coldly at the young man. "Mars, what do you want?"
"Little Lucia, what's with that attitude? I don't mean any harm. I just want to make friends with the new girl in the village. If she runs into trouble later, I could look out for her." Seeing Lucia's hostility, Mars forced out a placating smile.
"Hmph, don't think I don't know what you're thinking. You're just a lecherous scumbag who spends every day stealing and causing trouble.
"You're not worthy of Sister Ivette. Get lost already!" Lucia snapped.
"You brat, why are you speaking for her? Is that what she means?" Mars's mouth twitched. He suppressed his anger and said, "Is it, Ivette?" Lucia turned to look at Ivette.
"What you mean is what I mean." Ivette did not quite understand the full story, but she trusted that Lucia would not harm her. The little girl's fierce reaction, along with her words, suggested that this young man named Mars
