The battle ended so quickly, rather than in the fierce deadlock everyone had imagined, that the crowd in the stands fell silent for a moment. Several seconds later, startled cries erupted one after another.
To be fair, Reagan Alvarett was not some once-in-a-century super genius. He was more like one of the one or two outstanding students the Battle Arts Academy reliably gained every year after its spring admissions—in other words, there were students like him every year.
