A few minutes later, Lucia and Ivette returned the way they had come with the two children and arrived back at the Lucky Coin Inn.
It was the busiest time of the afternoon at the tavern. The dwarven owner was raising an oak tankard and drinking against several regulars. Foam from the ale dripped down his beard, splashing dark wet stains across the bar. Lucia stepped forward and shook his shoulder, and only then did the dwarf turn around drunkenly and open another room for Ezra and Aina.
This time, however, Lucia booked the cheapest room for the two children, costing only sixty copper dollars. It was not cheap either, but compared to the top-tier suite she and Ivette were staying in for twelve silver dollars, there was a full twentyfold difference in price.
"Wasn't there still an empty room in the top-floor suite?" After the two children entered the room, Ivette stood at the door and looked at the sparse furnishings inside in surprise.
Her money had been teleported over in the form of gold from Ish Island. Combined with the fact that she could make gold with her own hands, she was theoretically rich enough to rival a nation and could barely feel the expenditure of money.
"Teacher, you don't understand this." Lucia leaned close to her ear and lowered her voice, warm breath brushing against Ivette's ear. "Although I do feel sorry for them, we can't be too nice to them—or they'll take our kindness for being easy marks."
After a pause, she added, "Besides, saving them was my decision. Otherwise, you might not have gotten involved, Teacher. So I should pay this money."
