During the reign of the late Emperor Inaga II, the Empire needed to mobilize a great army to wipe out the many Magic Beast nests in its eastern regions. Areas had to be sealed off to prevent the Magic Beasts from wandering out and threatening surrounding villages, towns, and cities, while heavy firepower was needed to bombard the nest structures.

Naturally, this required requisitioning provisions from the surrounding provinces and stockpiling all manner of war supplies.

Yet before the army could set out, twenty-nine large warehouses scattered throughout the eastern provinces were burned to ashes in a single night. The blaze was so fierce that it even melted rock into lava, turning the original warehouse sites into volcanic Scorched Earth.

The grain warehouses across the land were guarded not only by dedicated grain troops, but also by Ascenders. Forget ordinary fires—even if a volcano truly erupted, so long as it was not a direct main lava flow, they could barely hold it back.

But all of them unanimously claimed that, on the night the granaries burned down, they saw a crimson Sunflame True Dragon streak across the sky, spitting fireballs like falling meteors.
