Death of a Fairy

When Hua An and Teres used relatively physical means to force open the doors of the biological psionic laboratory in the sewers north of Azure City,

the first thing they felt was a bone-chilling cold.

The fairy girl raised her head and looked into the dark underground laboratory hall. The space seemed vast, yet it gave people a cramped feeling.

Especially to fairy senses, the laboratory was covered everywhere in inscriptions of "prohibition," "sealing," and "reinforcement." It was also saturated with the stench of pain and despair. Countless people, beasts, and Magic Beasts had suffered torment here before dying.

It made all living beings, whether fairies or humans, instinctively feel fear... or rather,

a deathly chill crawling up their spines.

"How many people died in this place..."

Hua An shuddered and instinctively hugged Frost Butterfly beside her. "It's even colder than my Frost Butterfly!"

"Good heavens, this is a slaughterhouse, isn't it?"

Teres, meanwhile, immediately assumed a fighting stance. His hand gripped the hilt at his waist, his brow tightly furrowed. "I'd believe it if you told me there was a Wraith nest here."

But just as everyone remained on guard, in the corridor not far away,

two silver-blue points of light lit up. Accompanied by steady footsteps, they dispelled the entire malicious atmosphere.

"You're here."

Ian walked forward at an unhurried pace. Calmly sheathing his Steel-Pattern Sword, he faced his teammates with a smile. "Most of them have been cleared out. They even conveniently sorted the materials for us—we just need to take them and leave."

"That's good." Seeing the document case in Ian's hand, Teres nodded without hesitation, ready to announce their withdrawal.

Obviously, Ian's solo operation had to be related to Mikael's mission.

And now that the mission was complete, it was time for them to leave.
