For the people of the Imperial Capital living in the Lower City and Middle City, the Upper City—where even ordinary people would grow short of breath and dizzy just by approaching—was an unattainable forbidden zone.
Only ascenders, true great figures in every sense, could move freely through that region completely enveloped by the Imperial Capital's force field.
Yet they did not know that above the Upper City, there was still another Upper City.
Above the Upper City, where even the phenomena of Fourth Energy Level experts could be suppressed, stood a steep lone mountain. Force-field emitters formed from steel and unknown biological structures created a crater-like formation. An invisible force-field shield surged from there straight into the heavens, protecting the entire Central Great Plain centered on the Imperial Capital.
And beside those force-field emitters stood an immense palace of rock and iron at the edge. Yet in terms of appearance, it was less a palace than a lofty platform.
From this platform, one could overlook the entire Central Plains, while behind it stood the Imperial Capital's force-field beam, shooting straight into the void.
If that Majesty had not vanished to carry out his mysterious, unknown plan, he would have spent most of his time here. The imperial palace in the Upper City was merely a place for work; he had never lingered there for long.
He even somewhat loathed that overly uniform palace.
Mikael climbed the platform step by step. Its material was neither metal nor stone. It possessed certain biological qualities, yet was as hard as steel. Its surface was covered in a layer of flowing liquid light, pure white without the slightest impurity.
Though the liquid light covering the platform appeared whole, it was actually formed from countless independent bands of light. They continuously writhed, crossing over and
